[Machine] About Ali, we were not confident in him, but in his chain of narration there is a flaw. Imam Shafi'i, may Allah have mercy on him, said: "If it were proven from Ali, we would have relied on him, if Allah wills. However, he is not proven among you or among us from him."  

البيهقي:٢٠٥٤٤ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو حَازِمٍ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ أَبُو الْفَضْلِ بْنُ خِمَيْرَوَيْهِ أنبأ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ نَجْدَةَ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ثنا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ وَهُشَيْمٌ عَنْ جَابِرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ نُجَيٍّ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ؓ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يُجِيزُ شَهَادَةَ الْقَابِلَةِ زَادَ أَبُو عَوَانَةَ وَحْدَهَا هَذَا لَا يَصِحُّ جَابِرٌ الْجُعْفِيُّ مَتْرُوكٌ وَعَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ نُجَيٍّ فِيهِ نَظَرٌ وَرَوَاهُ سُوَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ عَنْ غَيْلَانَ بْنِ جَامِعٍ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْوَانَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ عَلِيًّا ؓ فَذَكَرَهُ قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ الْحَنْظَلِيُّ لَوْ صَحَّتْ شَهَادَةُ الْقَابِلَةِ

عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ؓ لَقُلْنَا بِهِ وَلَكِنْ فِي إِسْنَادِهِ خَلَلٌ قَالَ الشَّافِعِيُّ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ لَوْ ثَبَتَ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ؓ صِرْنَا إِلَيْهِ إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ وَلَكِنَّهُ لَا يَثْبُتُ عِنْدَكُمْ وَلَا عِنْدَنَا عَنْهُ
