[Machine] So 'Umar said: "Those people are liars, but rather he is from those who have traded the Hereafter for the worldly life." Qays and the one killed, 'Awf ibn Abi Humeid, who is also known as Abu Shibl, said. Ya'qub Malik is more similar.  

البيهقي:١٧٩٢٩وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ أنبأ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ثنا ابْنُ عُثْمَانَ أنبأ عَبْدُ اللهِ أنبأ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ عَنْ حُصَيْنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ قَالَ لَمَّا أُخْبِرَ عُمَرُ بِقَتْلِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ مُقَرِّنٍ وَقِيلَ أُصِيبَ فُلَانٌ وَفُلَانٌ وَآخَرُونَ لَا نَعْرِفُهُمْ قَالَ وَلَكِنَّ اللهَ يَعْرِفُهُمْ قَالَ وَرَجُلٌ شَرَى نَفْسَهُ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَحْمَسَ يُقَالُ لَهُ مَالِكُ بْنُ عَوْفٍ ذَاكَ خَالِي يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ زَعَمَ نَاسٌ أَنَّهُ أَلْقَى بِيَدِهِ إِلَى التَّهْلُكَةِ

فَقَالُ عُمَرُ كَذَبَ أُولَئِكَ بَلْ هُوَ مِنَ الَّذِينَ اشْتَرُوا الْآخِرَةَ بِالدُّنْيَا قَالَ قَيْسٌ وَالْمَقْتُولُ عَوْفُ بْنُ أَبِي حُمَيْدٍ وَهُوَ أَبُو شِبْلٍ قَالَ يَعْقُوبُ مَالِكٌ أَشْبَهُ
