[Machine] Umar came across an elderly man who had consumed alcohol during the month of Ramadan. Umar lashed him eighty times and banished him to Syria. He also made him ask, "Should our children fast during the month of Ramadan, or should our young boys fast?"  

البيهقي:١٧٥٤٥أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْأَرْدَسْتَانِيُّ أنبأ أَبُو نَصْرٍ الْعِرَاقِيُّ ثنا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ثنا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي سِنَانٍ الشَّيْبَانِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي الْهُذَيْلِ قَالَ

أُتِيَ عُمَرُ ؓ بِشَيْخٍ قَدْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ فَجَلَدَهُ ثَمَانِينَ وَنَفَاهُ إِلَى الشَّامِ وَجَعَلَ يَقُولُ لِلْمَنْخَرَيْنِ أَفِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ وَوُلْدَانِنَا صِيَامٌ أَوْ صِبْيَانُنَا صِيَامٌ؟
