He replied, "No." Ali then flogged him a hundred times, fined him half of the marriage gift, and separated them.
جِئْتُ مَعَ عَلِيٍّ ؓ بِصِفِّينَ فَإِذَا رَجُلٌ فِي زَرْعٍ يُنَادِي إِنِّي قَدْ أَصَبْتُ فَاحِشَةً فَأَقِيمُوا عَلَيَّ الْحَدَّ فَرَفَعْتُهُ إِلَى عَلِيٍّ ؓ فَقَالَ لَهُ عَلِيٌّ ؓ هَلْ تَزَوَّجْتَ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَدَخَلْتَ بِهَا؟ قَالَ لَا قَالَ فَجَلَدَهُ مِائَةً وَأَغْرَمَهُ نِصْفَ الصَّدَاقِ وَفَرَّقَ بَيْنَهُمَا
