[Machine] When the people gathered around Abd al-Malik, Abdullah ibn Umar wrote to him, "Peace be upon you. After that, I acknowledge my hearing and obedience to Abdullah, the servant of Allah and the commander of the faithful, according to the Sunnah of Allah and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as much as I am able. Indeed, my children have also acknowledged the same. Peace be upon you."  

البيهقي:١٦٥٦٥أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عُمَرَ الْمُقْرِيُّ ابْنُ الْحَمَامِيُّ بِبَغْدَادَ أَنْبَأَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَلْمَانَ الْفَقِيهُ أَنْبَأَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ غَالِبٍ ثَنَا أَبُو حُذَيْفَةَ ثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ قَالَ

لَمَّا اجْتَمَعَ النَّاسُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ كَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ سَلَّامٌ عَلَيْكَ أَمَّا بَعْدُ فَإِنِّي أُقِرُّ بِالسَّمْعِ وَالطَّاعَةِ لِعَبْدِ اللهِ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلَى سُنَّةِ اللهِ وَسُنَّةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِيمَا اسْتَطَعْتُ وَإِنَّ بَنِيَّ قَدْ أَقَرُّوا بِمِثْلِ ذَلِكَ وَالسَّلَامُ  

أَخْرَجَهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ مُسَدَّدٍ وَعَمْرِو بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ يَحْيَى الْقَطَّانِ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ

I witnessed Ibn ʿUmar when the people gathered around ʿAbdul Malik. Ibn ʿUmar wrote: I gave the Pledge of allegiance that I will listen to and obey Allah's Slave, ʿAbdul Malik, Chief of the believers according to Allah's Laws and the Traditions of His Apostle as much as I can; and my sons too, give the same pledge.'
