[Machine] The blood money (compensation) for a free Muslim during the time of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is one hundred camels. Umar ibn al-Khattab increased this compensation to one thousand dinars or twelve thousand dirhams for towns and villages. Abu Sa'eed stated in his narration that if the person responsible for the crime is from the Bedouin, their blood money is one hundred camels and they are not obliged to pay in gold or silver.
أَنَّ دِيَةَ الْمُسْلِمِ الْحُرِّ عَلَى عَهْدِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مِائَةٌ مِنَ الْإِبِلِ فَقَوَّمَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ تِلْكَ الدِّيَةَ عَلَى الْقُرَى أَلْفَ دِينَارٍ أَوِ اثْنَيْ عَشَرَ أَلْفَ دِرْهَمٍ زَادَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ فِي رِوَايَتِهِ قَالَ فَإِنْ كَانَ الَّذِي أَصَابَهُ مِنَ الْأَعْرَابِ فَدِيَتُهُ مِائَةٌ مِنَ الْإِبِلِ لَا يُكَلَّفُ الْأَعْرَابِيُّ الذَّهَبَ وَلَا الْوَرِقَ
