[Machine] She lost her husband and did not know where he was, so she waited for four years, then waited for four months and ten days. Abu Ahmad al-Mihrajani informed us, Abu Bakr ibn Ja'far narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, Ibn Bukayr narrated to us, Malik mentioned it to him, then she becomes permissible for marriage. Yunus ibn Yazid narrated it from al-Zuhri, and he added, "Uthman ibn Affan ruled on this after Umar." Abu Ubaid narrated it in his book from Muhammad ibn Kathir from al-Awza'i from al-Zuhri from Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib that Umar and Uthman said, "The woman of the missing person should wait for four years, then she should get married."
فَقَدَتْ زَوْجَهَا فَلَمْ تَدْرِ أَيْنَ هُوَ فَإِنَّهَا تَنْتَظِرُ أَرْبَعَ سِنِينَ ثُمَّ تَنْتَظِرُ أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ وَعَشْرًا 15567 وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الْمِهْرَجَانِيُّ أنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ نا ابْنُ بُكَيْرٍ نا مَالِكٌ فَذَكَرَهُ بِمِثْلَهِ زَادَ ثُمَّ تَحِلُّ وَرَوَاهُ يُونُسُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ وَزَادَ فِيهِ قَالَ وَقَضَى بِذَلِكَ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ بَعْدَ عُمَرَ ؓ وَرَوَاهُ أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ فِي كِتَابِهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ أَنَّ عُمَرَ وَعُثْمَانَ ؓ قَالَا امْرَأَةُ الْمَفْقُودِ تَرَبَّصُ أَرْبَعَ سِنِينَ ثُمَّ تَعْتَدُّ أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ وَعَشْرًا ثُمَّ تُنْكَحُ
