[Machine] Two women came to Ali and asked him. One of them was an Arab woman and the other was a servant of hers. Ali ordered each of them to give them a kur from food and forty dirhams, forty dirhams. The servant took what she was given and left, while the Arab woman said, "O Amir al-Mu'minin, will you give me the same as you gave her even though I am an Arab and she is a servant?" Ali said to her, "I have looked in the Book of Allah and I have not found any preference for the descendants of Isma'il over the descendants of Ishaq."  

أَتَتْ عَلِيًّا امْرَأَتَانِ تَسْأَلَانِهِ؛ عَرَبِيَّةٌ وَمَوْلَاةٌ لَهَا فَأَمَرَ لِكُلِّ وَاحِدَةٍ مِنْهُمَا بِكُرٍّ مِنْ طَعَامٍ وَأَرْبَعِينَ دِرْهَمًا أَرْبَعِينَ دِرْهَمًا فَأَخَذَتِ الْمَوْلَاةُ الَّذِي أُعْطِيَتْ وَذَهَبَتْ وَقَالَتِ الْعَرَبِيَّةُ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ تُعْطِينِي مِثْلَ الَّذِي أَعْطَيْتَ هَذِهِ وَأَنَا عَرَبِيَّةٌ وَهِيَ مَوْلَاةٌ؟ قَالَ لَهَا عَلِيٌّ ؓ إِنِّي نَظَرْتُ فِي كِتَابِ اللهِ ﷻ فَلَمْ أَرَ فِيهِ فَضْلًا لِوَلَدِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَلَى وَلَدِ إِسْحَاقَ
