[Machine] Abu Bakr made a division and Umar ibn Khattab asked him to favor the immigrants and the early Muslims. He said, "Shall I buy their preference from them?" So he made a division and made it fair. Al-Shafi'i and Ali ibn Abi Talib settled the matter among the people and this is what I choose. And I ask Allah for success.
قَسَمَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ؓ أَوَّلَ مَا قَسَمَ فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ فَضِّلِ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ الْأَوَّلِينَ وَأَهْلَ السَّابِقَةِ فَقَالَ أَشْتَرِي مِنْهُمْ سَابِقَتَهُمْ؟ فَقَسَمَ فَسَوَّى قَالَ الشَّافِعِيُّ وَسَوَّى عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ؓ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ وَهَذَا الَّذِي أَخْتَارُ وَأَسْأَلُ اللهَ التَّوْفِيقَ
