Bilal ibn Yahya al-Absi said: Ali found a dinar and purchased some flour with it. The seller of the flour recognised him and returned the dinar to him. Ali took it, deducted two qirat (carat) from it, and purchased meat with it. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1715)   

البيهقي:١٢٠٩٥ – وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ دَاسَةَ ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ثنا الْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْجُهَنِيُّ ثنا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ عَنْ بِلَالِ بْنِ يَحْيَى الْعَبْسِيِّ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ

أَنْهُ الْتَقَطَ دِينَارًا فَاشْتَرَى بِهِ دَقِيقًا فَعَرَفَهُ صَاحِبُ الدَّقِيقِ فَرَدَّ عَلَيْهِ الدِّينَارَ فَأَخَذَهُ عَلِيٌّ فَقَطَعَ مِنْهُ قِيرَاطَيْنِ فَاشْتَرَى بِهِ لَحْمًا فِي مَتْنِ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ اخْتِلَافٌ وَفِي أَسَانِيدِهِ ضَعْفٌ وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ

"عَنْ بِلاَلِ بْنِ يَحْيىَ الْعَبْسِى، عَنْ عَلِىٍّ أَنَّهُ الْتَقَطَ دِينَارًا فَاشْتَرَى بِهِ دَقِيقًا، فَعَرَفَهُ صَاحِبُ الدَّقِيقِ فَرَدَّ عَلَيْهِ الدِّينَارَ، فَأخذَهُ عَلى فَقَطَعَ مِنْهُ قِيرَاطَيْنِ، فَاشْتَرَى بِهِ لَحْمًا".  

[د] أبو داود [ق] البيهقى في السنن وضعفه، زاد [ش] ابن أبى شيبة "ثم أتى به فاطمة فقال: اصنعى لنا طعاما، ثم انطلق إلى النبي ﷺ فدعاه فأتاه ومن معه فأتاهم بجفنة، فلما رآها النبي ﷺ أنكرها فقال: ما هذه؟ فأخبره فقال: القطَعَةَ القُطَعَةَ إلى القيراطين، ضعوا أيديكم باسم الله"
