bayhaqi:12052 – Abū ʿAbdullāh al-Ḥāfiẓ > Muḥammad b. Ṣāliḥ b. Hāniʾ > Muḥammad b. ʿAmr al-Ḥarashī > al-Qaʿnabī > Sulaymān b. Bilāl > Yaḥyá b. Saʿīd al-Anṣārī > Yazīd a freed slave of al-Munbaʿith

[Machine] He heard Zaid bin Khalid Al-Juhani, the companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , saying: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about picking up gold or silver. He said, 'Acquire knowledge about its markings and specifications, and then identify it for a year. If it is not recognized, then spend it and let it be a trust with you. If its seeker comes one day, return it to him.' This narration is mentioned in Sahih from the Hadith of Sulaiman bin Bilal.  

البيهقي:١٢٠٥٢ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ صَالِحِ بْنِ هَانِئٍ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْحَرَشِيُّ ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ عَنْ يَزِيدَ مَوْلَى الْمُنْبَعِثِ

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ زَيْدَ بْنَ خَالِدٍ الْجُهَنِيَّ صَاحِبَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ اللُّقَطَةِ الذَّهَبِ أَوِ الْوَرِقِ فَقَالَ اعْرِفْ وِكَاءَهَا وَعِفَاصَهَا ثُمَّ عَرِّفْهَا سَنَةً فَإِنْ لَمْ تُعْرَفْ فَاسْتَنْفِقْهَا وَلْتَكُنْ وَدِيعَةً عِنْدَكَ فَإِنْ جَاءَ طَالِبُهَا يَوْمًا مِنَ الدَّهْرِ فَأَدِّهَا إِلَيْهِ أَخْرَجَاهُ فِي الصَّحِيحِ مِنْ حَدِيثِ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ بِلَالٍ

Recognise well the strap and the bag (containing) that and then make an announcement regarding that for one year, but if none recognises it, then spend that and it would be a trust with you; and if someone comes one day to make demand of that, then pay that to him. He (the inquirer) asked about the lost camel, whereupon he said: You have nothing to do with that. Leave that alone, for it has feet and also a leather bag, it drinks water, and eats (the leaves) of the trees. He asked him about sheep, whereupon he said: Take it, it is for you, or for your brother, or for the wolf.

[Machine] He said that a man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and asked him about "Al-Luqatah" (lost property). The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Know its description and its container, then describe it for a year. If its owner comes, give it to him, otherwise, it is yours." This is mentioned in the authentic narration of Malik and its meaning.  

البيهقي:١٢٠٨٣ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبُ أنبأ الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ أنبأ الشَّافِعِيُّ أنبأ مَالِكٌ عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ يَزِيدَ مَوْلَى الْمُنْبَعِثِ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ

أَنَّهُ قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَسَأَلَهُ عَنِ اللُّقَطَةِ فَقَالَ اعْرِفْ عِفَاصَهَا وَوِكَاءَهَا ثُمَّ عَرِّفْهَا سَنَةً فَإِنْ جَاءَ صَاحِبُهَا وَإِلَّا فَشَأْنَكَ بِهَا أَخْرَجَاهُ فِي الصَّحِيحِ مِنْ حَدِيثِ مَالِكٍ وَبِمَعْنَاهُ
