[Machine] I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with a handful of bread and meat, and he asked, "What is this, O Salman?" I said, "It is charity." He did not eat and said to his companions, "Eat." Then I came to him with another handful of bread and meat, and he asked, "What is this, O Salman?" I said, "It is a gift." He ate and said, "We eat gifts, but we do not eat charity."

[Machine] I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with a handful of bread and meat. He asked, "What is this, Salman?" I replied, "It is a donation." He did not eat it and said to his companions, "Eat." Then, I came to him with a handful of bread and meat again, and he asked, "What is this, Salman?" I replied, "It is a gift." He ate it and said, "We eat gifts and do not eat donations." I asked, "O Messenger of Allah, what do you say about the Christians?" He said, "O Salman, there is no goodness in the Christians or in those who love them three times unless they are upon the same religion as your companion." I understood that my companion, the monk who was with me, was upon the religion of Jesus. The sheikh also mentioned a narration from Buraida that indicates that Salman was a slave when he gave a gift to the Prophet ﷺ.
