The Prophet ﷺ said, "Name yourselves after me, but do not call yourselves by my Kuniya." (Using translation from Bukhārī 3538)  

أحمد:٩٨٩٤حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ يَزِيدَ النَّخَعِيَّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا زُرْعَةَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ تَسَمَّوْا بِاسْمِي وَلَا تَكَنَّوْا بِكُنْيَتِي قَالَ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَكْرَهُ الشِّكَالَ مِنَ الْخَيْلِ أَوِ الْأَشْكَالَ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ قَالَ أَبِي شُعْبَةُ يُخْطِئُ فِي هَذَا الْقَوْلِ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ يَزِيدَ وَإِنَّمَا هُوَ سَلْمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ النَّخَعِيُّ
