[Machine] Marwan used to appoint Abu Huraira as a governor over the city. He would walk and say, "Clear the way, the prince has come, the prince has come." The Prophet Abu Al-Qasim ﷺ said, "Allah does not look at the one who drags his lower garment out of arrogance."  

أحمد:٩٥٥٥حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ قَالَ

كَانَ مَرْوَانُ يَسْتَخْلِفُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ عَلَى الْمَدِينَةِ فَيَضْرِبُ بِرِجْلِهِ فَيَقُولُ خَلُّوا الطَّرِيقَ قَدْ جَاءَ الْأَمِيرُ قَدْ جَاءَ الْأَمِيرُ قَالَ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ ﷺ لَا يَنْظُرُ اللهُ إِلَى مَنْ جَرَّ إِزَارَهُ بَطَرًا

[Machine] Marwan used to employ Abu Hurayrah in Madinah. He would hit his foot when he saw a person dragging his garment and then say, "The Amir has come, the Amir has come." Then he would say, "Abu al-Qasim (Prophet Muhammad) said, 'Allah does not look at those who drag their garments out of arrogance.'"

كَانَ مَرْوَانُ يَسْتَعْمِلُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ عَلَى الْمَدِينَةِ قَالَ فَكَانَ إِذَا رَأَى إِنْسَانًا يَجُرُّ إِزَارَهُ ضَرَبَ بِرِجْلِهِ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ قَدْ جَاءَ الْأَمِيرُ قَدْ جَاءَ الْأَمِيرُ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ قَالَ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ ﷺ لَا يَنْظُرُ اللهُ إِلَى مَنْ جَرَّ إِزَارَهُ بَطَرًا

[Machine] Marwan used to appoint Abu Hurayrah as the governor of Madinah. Whenever he saw someone dragging their clothes, he would kick them with his foot and say, "The prince has come, the prince has come." Then he would quote Abu Al-Qasim, ﷺ , as saying, "Allah does not look favorably upon those who drag their clothes arrogantly."  

الكبرى للنسائي:٩٦٤٠أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ قَالَ
