We were in the company of the Prophet ﷺ and he said, "There is none among you but has his place written for him, either in Paradise or in the Hell-Fire." We said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Shall we depend (on this fact and give up work)?" He replied, "No! Carry on doing good deeds, for everybody will find easy (to do) such deeds as will lead him to his destined place." Then the Prophet ﷺ recited: 'As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah, and believes in the Best reward. We will make smooth for him the path of ease....the path for evil.' (92.5-10)  

كُنَّا جُلُوسًا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ مَا مِنْكُمْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ إِلاَّ وَقَدْ كُتِبَ مَقْعَدُهُ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ وَمَقْعَدُهُ مِنَ النَّارِ فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَفَلاَ نَتَّكِلُ قَالَ لاَ اعْمَلُوا فَكُلٌّ مُيَسَّرٌ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ {فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَى وَاتَّقَى * وَصَدَّقَ بِالْحُسْنَى * فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْيُسْرَى} إِلَى قَوْلِهِ {فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْعُسْرَى}  

There is not one amongst you who has not been allotted his seat in Paradise or Hell. They said: Messenger of Allah. then, why should we perform good deeds, why not depend upon our destiny? Thereupon he said. No, do perform good deeds, for everyone is facilitated in that for which he has been created; then he recited this verse:" Then, who gives to the needy and guards against evil and accepts the excellent (the truth of Islam and the path of righteousness it prescribes), We shall make easy for him the easy end..." (xcii. 5-10).  

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ جَالِسًا وَفِي يَدِهِ عُودٌ يَنْكُتُ بِهِ فَرَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَقَالَ مَا مِنْكُمْ مِنْ نَفْسٍ إِلاَّ وَقَدْ عُلِمَ مَنْزِلُهَا مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ وَالنَّارِ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَلِمَ نَعْمَلُ أَفَلاَ نَتَّكِلُ قَالَ لاَ اعْمَلُوا فَكُلٌّ مُيَسَّرٌ لِمَا خُلِقَ لَهُ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ { فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَى وَاتَّقَى * وَصَدَّقَ بِالْحُسْنَى} إِلَى قَوْلِهِ { فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْعُسْرَى}  

"We were sitting with the Prophet ﷺ and he had a stick in his hand. He scratched in the ground with it, then raised his head and said: 'There is no one among you but his place in Paradise or Hell has already been decreed.' He was asked: 'O Messenger of Allah, should we not then rely upon that?' He said: 'No, strive and do not rely upon that, for it will be made easy for each person to do that for which he was created.' Then he recited: "As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, and believes in Al-Husna. We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. And denies Al-Husna. We will make smooth for him the path for evil. "

ʿAli ؓ took me by the hand and we set out walking until we sat down on the banks of the Euphrates ʿAli ؓ said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ʿThere is no living soul but Allah has already decreed whether it is doomed or blessed.ʿ A man stood up and said: O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, why should we strive? He said: ʿStrive, for each person will be helped to do that for which he was created.” Then he recited this verse: ʿAs for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him. And believes in Al-Husna, We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, and belies Al-Husna, We will make smooth for him the path for evilʿ [Al-Lail 92:5–10]. ʿThere is no one among you but Allah has decreed his place in Hell or his place in Paradise.ʿ They said: O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, shouldnʿt we rely on that? He said: ʿNo, rather strive, for each will be enabled to do the appropriate deeds. Then he recited: ʿAs for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, And believes in Al-Husna. We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). Mansoor bin al-Muʿtamir narrated it to me and I did not object to the hadeeth of Sulaiman at all. We were sitting with the Prophet ﷺ at a funeral - I [the narrator] think he said in Baqeeʿ al-Gharqad - and he struck the ground (with a stick), then he lifted his head and said: “There is no one among you but Allah has decreed his place in Paradise or his place in Hell.” We said: O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, shouldnʿt we rely on that? He said: ʿNo, rather strive, for each will be enabled [to do the appropriate deeds].” Then he recited: ʿAs for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, And believes in Al-Husna.ʿ We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self sufficient. And belies Al-Husna. We will make smooth for him the path for evil” [Al-Lail 92:5-10].
