[Machine] I heard Ibn Umar say that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took a gold ring, so the people also took gold rings. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I have taken a gold ring, but I have thrown it away and I will never wear it." So the people also threw away their rings.  

أحمد:٥٩٧١ – حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ

سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ اتَّخَذَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ خَاتَمًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَاتَّخَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنِّي اتَّخَذْتُ خَاتَمًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَنَبَذْتُهُ وَقَالَ إِنِّي لَسْتُ أَلْبَسُهُ أَبَدًا فَنَبَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَهُمْ

The Prophet ﷺ wore a gold ring and then the people followed him and wore gold rings too. Then the Prophet said, "I had this golden ring made for myself. He then threw it away and said, "I shall never put it on." Thereupon the people also threw their rings away.

"The Messenger of Allah [SAW] took a ring of gold and put it on, and the people started to wear gold rings too. The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: 'I used to wear this ring, but I will never wear it again.' Then he threw it away, and the people threw their rings away."  

النسائي:٥٢٧٥ – أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ took a gold ring, and so the people took gold rings. Then one day he stood up and said, "I used to wear this ring, but I have now discarded it." So the people discarded their rings.

أحمد:٥٨٨٧ – حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْهَاشِمِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ جَعْفَرٍ أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ دِينَارٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ اتَّخَذَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَلَبِسَهُ فَاتَّخَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَ الذَّهَبِ فَقَامَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ أَلْبَسُ هَذَا الْخَاتَمَ وَإِنِّي لَنْ أَلْبَسَهُ أَبَدًا فَنَبَذَهُ فَنَبَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَهُمْ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ took a gold ring, so the people also took gold rings. Then he threw it and said, "I will never wear it." Yazid said, "So the people threw away their rings."  

أحمد:٥٢٤٩ – حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ وَيَزِيدُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ

اتَّخَذَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ خَاتَمًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَاتَّخَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَرَمَى بِهِ وَقَالَ لَنْ أَلْبَسَهُ أَبَدًا قَالَ يَزِيدُ فَنَبَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَهُمْ

ابن حبّان:٥٤٩١ – أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السَّامِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ الْمَقَابِرِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ وَأَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ دِينَارٍ
