[Machine] We were in the city during the expedition of the people of Iraq. Then a year passed and Abdullah ibn Zubayr provided us with dates. Abdullah ibn Umar used to pass by us and say, "Do not compare yourselves, for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited reciting the Qur'an except when the man consults his brother."  

أحمد:٥٤٣٥حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا جَبَلَةُ قَالَ

كُنَّا بِالْمَدِينَةِ فِي بَعْثِ أَهْلِ الْعِرَاقِ فَأَصَابَتْنَا سَنَةٌ فَجَعَلَعَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ يَرْزُقُنَا التَّمْرَ وَكَانَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ يَمُرُّ بِنَا فَيَقُولُ لَا تُقَارِنُوا فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنِ الْقِرَانِ إِلَّا أَنْ يَسْتَأْمِرَ الرَّجُلُ مِنْكُمْ أَخَاهُ

"We were in Medina with some of the Iraqi people, and we were struck with famine and Ibn Az- Zubair used to give us dates. Ibn ʿUmar used to pass by and say, "The Prophet ﷺ forbade us to eat two dates at a time, unless one takes the permission of one's companions."
