[Machine] She said, Abu Jahl bin Huthayfah presented a Syrian shirt to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and she had a flag on it so he witnessed the prayer with it. When he finished, he said, "Return this shirt to Abu Jahl, for I looked at its flag during prayer and it nearly distracted me."

أحمد:٢٥٤٤٥ – قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مَهْدِيٍّ عَنْ مَالِكٍ وحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي مَالِكٌ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ أَبِي عَلْقَمَةَ عَنْ أُمِّهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ أَهْدَى أَبُو جَهْمِ بْنُ حُذَيْفَةَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ خَمِيصَةً شَامِيَّةً لَهَا عَلَمٌ فَشَهِدَ فِيهَا الصَّلَاةَ فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قَالَ رُدِّي هَذِهِ الْخَمِيصَةَ إِلَى أَبِي جَهْمٍ فَإِنِّي نَظَرْتُ إِلَى عَلَمِهَا فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَكَادَ يَفْتِنُنِي

Yahya related to me from Malik from AIqama ibn Abi AIqama from his mother that A'isha, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ said, "Abu Jahm ibn Hudhayfa gave the Messenger of Allah ﷺ a fine striped garment from Syria and he did the prayer in it. When he had finished he said, 'Give this garment back to Abu Jahm. I lookedat its stripes in the prayer and they almost distracted me.' "

مالك:٣-٧٢ – حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ أَبِي عَلْقَمَةَ عَنْ أُمِّهِ

أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَتْ أَهْدَى أَبُو جَهْمِ بْنُ حُذَيْفَةَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ خَمِيصَةً شَامِيَّةً لَهَا عَلَمٌ فَشَهِدَ فِيهَا الصَّلاَةَ فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قَالَ رُدِّي هَذِهِ الْخَمِيصَةَ إِلَى أَبِي جَهْمٍ فَإِنِّي نَظَرْتُ إِلَى عَلَمِهَا فِي الصَّلاَةِ فَكَادَ يَفْتِنُنِي

ذِكْرُ الْعِلَّةِ الَّتِي مِنْ أَجْلِهَا بَعَثَ ﷺ الْخَمِيصَةَ الَّتِي ذَكَرْنَاهَا إِلَى أَبِي جَهْمٍ مِنْ بَيْنِ النَّاسِ

ibnhibban:2338 – ʿUmar b. Saʿīd b. Sinān > Aḥmad b. Abū Bakr > Mālik > ʿAlqamah b. Abū ʿAlqamah from his mother > ʿĀʾishah

ابن حبّان:٢٣٣٨ – أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ أَبِي عَلْقَمَةَ عَنْ أُمِّهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ أَهْدَى أَبُو جَهْمِ بْنُ حُذَيْفَةَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ خَمِيصَةً شَامِيَّةً لَهَا عَلَمٌ فَشَهِدَ فِيهَا الصَّلَاةَ فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قَالَ «رُدِّي هَذِهِ الْخَمِيصَةَ إِلَى أَبِي جَهْمٍ فَإِنِّي نَظَرْتُ إِلَى عَلَمِهَا فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَكَادَتْ تَفْتِنُنِي»

bayhaqi:3872 – Abū ʿAbdullāh al-Ḥāfiẓ > Abū Ḥāmid Aḥmad b. Muḥammad b. al-Ḥusayn al-Khusrawjirdī Bikhusrawjird > Dāwud b. al-Ḥusayn al-Bayhaqī > Yaḥyá b. Yaḥyá > Mālik > ʿAlqamah b. Abū ʿAlqamah from his mother > ʿĀʾishah

[Machine] Abu Jahl bin Hudaifah presented a Syrian garment with a flag on it as a gift to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . He wore it during prayer, and when he finished, he said, "Return this garment to Abu Jahl, for I looked at its flag during prayer, and it almost distracted me." Al-Shafi'i said, "We did not know if he prostrated due to forgetfulness." Abu Talhah looked at a wall and mentioned this to the Prophet ﷺ , but we do not know if he commanded him to prostrate for forgetfulness.

البيهقي:٣٨٧٢ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ أَبُو حَامِدٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ الْخُسْرَوْجِرْدِيُّ بِخُسْرَوْجِرْدَ ثنا دَاوُدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ الْبَيْهَقِيُّ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ أَبِي عَلْقَمَةَ عَنْ أُمِّهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ؓ قَالَتْ
