[Machine] We went out to the Prophet ﷺ to Khaybar, and a man from the people said, "Which of us, O 'Amir, would you prefer to hear from your poems?" The Prophet replied and he started reciting, "By Allah, if not for Allah we would not have been guided." Then he recited some other poetry but I did not memorize it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "Who is this poet?" They said, "It is 'Amir bin Al-Akwa'." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "May Allah have mercy on him." Then a man from the people said, "O Messenger of Allah, if only you would entertain us with it more." So, when they gathered around, he recited the poetry.

We went out with the Prophet ﷺ to Khaibar. A man among the people said, "O 'Amir! Will you please recite to us some of your poetic verses?" So 'Amir got down and started chanting among them, saying, "By Allah! Had it not been for Allah, we would not have been guided." 'Amir also said other poetic verses which I do not remember. Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Who is this (camel) driver?" The people said, "He is 'Amir bin Al-Akwaʿ," He said, "May Allah bestow His Mercy on him." A man from the People said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Would that you let us enjoy his company longer." When the people (Muslims) lined up, the battle started, and 'Amir was struck with his own sword (by chance) by himself and died. In the evening, the people made a large number of fires (for cooking meals). Allah's Apostle said, "What is this fire? What are you making the fire for?" They said, "For cooking the meat of donkeys." He said, "Throw away what is in the pots and break the pots!" A man said, "O Allah's Prophet! May we throw away what is in them and wash them?" He said, "Never mind, you may do so." (See Hadith No. 509, Vol. 5).

[Machine] We went with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to Khaibar, and a man from the people said, "O Amir, if you let us enjoy ourselves with your wealth, we will help you!" So he went down to them and mentioned Allah and recited a poem that I did not memorize. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Who is this driver?" They said, "Amir ibn Al-Aqwaa." He said, "May Allah have mercy on him." Then a man from the people said, "O Messenger of Allah, if you let us enjoy ourselves with him." So when they attacked the people, they fought them and Amir was injured. When they returned in the evening, they lit a large fire. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "What is this fire? What is it lit for?" They said, "For the Arab horses." He said, "Pour out whatever is in it and break it." Then a man said, "O Messenger of Allah, shouldn't we pour out what is in it and wash it?" He said, "Leave it as it is."
