So I said to him, "I asked Sa'id bin Al-Musayyib about it, and he said, 'If you eat it, then it is good and you do not need to perform ablution for it. But if it comes out [as waste], then it is impure and you need to perform ablution for it.'" He said, "Is there anyone in this town who knows about it?" I said, "Yes, the oldest man in the Arabian Peninsula in terms of knowledge." He asked, "Who?" I said, "Ata' bin Abi Rabah." He said, "Come and bring him to me." He sent for him and he came. He said, "Jabir informed me that they ate bread and meat with Abu Bakr As-Siddiq and he prayed without performing ablution." He said, "What do you say about 'Umrah?" I said, "Jabir informed me that the Prophet ﷺ said, 'Umrah is permissible.'"
