Allah loves the pious, self-sufficient, hidden servant

ahmad:1441 – Abū Bakr al-Ḥanafī ʿAbd al-Kabīr b. ʿAbd al-Majīd > Bukayr b. Mismār > ʿĀmir b. Saʿd

[AI] That his brother Umar went to Saad, who was outside Madinah with some sheep of his. When Saad saw him, he said, "I seek refuge in Allah from the evil of this rider." When he came to him, he said, "O my father, are you content to be a Bedouin among your sheep while the people are contending over rule in Madinah?" Saad struck Umar on the chest and said, "Be quiet. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Allah ﷻ loves the servant who is pious, self-sufficient, and hidden.""

أحمد:١٤٤١ – حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْحَنَفِيُّ عَبْدُ الْكَبِيرِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَجِيدِ، حَدَّثَنَا بُكَيْرُ بْنُ مِسْمَارٍ، عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ

أَنَّ أَخَاهُ عُمَرَ انْطَلَقَ إِلَى سَعْدٍ فِي غَنَمٍ لَهُ خَارِجًا مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ، فَلَمَّا رَآهُ سَعْدٌ قَالَ: أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنْ شَرِّ هَذَا الرَّاكِبِ. فَلَمَّا أَتَاهُ قَالَ: يَا أَبَتِ، أَرَضِيتَ أَنْ تَكُونَ أَعْرَابِيًّا فِي غَنَمِكَ وَالنَّاسُ يَتَنَازَعُونَ فِي الْمُلْكِ بِالْمَدِينَةِ؟ فَضَرَبَ سَعْدٌ صَدْرَ عُمَرَ، وَقَالَ: اسْكُتْ، إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: «إِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ يُحِبُّ الْعَبْدَ التَّقِيَّ الْغَنِيَّ الْخَفِيَّ».

Sa'd b. Abi Waqqas was in the fold of his camels that his son 'Umar came to him. When Sa'd saw him he said: I seek refuge with Allah from the mischief of this rider. And as he got down he said to him: You are busy with your camels and your sheep and you have abandoned people who are contending with one another for kingdom. Sa'd struck his chest and said: Keep quite.

I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying: Allah loves the servant who is God-conscious and is free from want and is hidden (from the view of people).

مسلم:٢٩٦٥ – حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَبَّاسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَظِيمِ وَاللَّفْظُ لإِسْحَاقَ قَالَ عَبَّاسٌ حَدَّثَنَا وَقَالَ إِسْحَاقُ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْحَنَفِيُّ؛ حَدَّثَنَا بُكَيْرُ بْنُ مِسْمَارٍ؛ حَدَّثَنِي عَامِرُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ قَالَ

كَانَ سَعْدُ بْنُ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ فِي إِبِلِهِ فَجَاءَهُ ابْنُهُ عُمَرُ فَلَمَّا رَآهُ سَعْدٌ قَالَ أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنْ شَرِّ هَذَا الرَّاكِبِ فَنَزَلَ فَقَالَ لَهُ أَنَزَلْتَ فِي إِبِلِكَ وَغَنَمِكَ وَتَرَكْتَ النَّاسَ يَتَنَازَعُونَ الْمُلْكَ بَيْنَهُمْ فَضَرَبَ سَعْدٌ فِي صَدْرِهِ فَقَالَ اسْكُتْ

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: «إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ الْعَبْدَ التَّقِيَّ الْغَنِيَّ الْخَفِيَّ»
