from the Prophet ﷺ who said, “None of you has faith until he loves for people what he loves for himself, and until he loves a person only for the sake of Allah ﷻ.”

أحمد:١٣٨٧٥ – حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسًا يُحَدِّثُ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا يُؤْمِنُ أَحَدُكُمْ حَتَّى يُحِبَّ لِلنَّاسِ مَا يُحِبُّ لِنَفْسِهِ وَحَتَّى يُحِبَّ الْمَرْءَ لَا يُحِبُّهُ إِلَّا لِلَّهِ۔»

The Prophet ﷺ said, "None of you will have faith till he loves for his ˹believing˺ brother what he loves for himself."

البخاري:١٣ – حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ ؓ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَعَنْ حُسَيْنٍ الْمُعَلِّمِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ عَنْ أَنَسٍ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ: «لا يُؤْمِنُ أَحَدُكُمْ حَتَّى يُحِبَّ لأَخِيهِ مَا يُحِبُّ لِنَفْسِهِ»۔

muslim:45a – Muḥammad b. al-Muthanná And Ibn Bashhār > Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > Qatādah > Anas b. Mālik

"None amongst you believes (truly) until he loves for his brother" - or he said "for his neighbour" - "that which he loves for himself."

مسلم:٤٥a – حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى وَابْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ: «لاَ يُؤْمِنُ أَحَدُكُمْ حَتَّى يُحِبَّ لأَخِيهِ» أَوْ قَالَ «لِجَارِهِ» «مَا يُحِبُّ لِنَفْسِهِ۔»

tirmidhi:2515 – Sūwayd b. Naṣr > ʿAbdullāh b. al-Mubārak > Shuʿbah > Qatādah > Anas

"None of you believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself."

الترمذي:٢٥١٥ – حَدَّثَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ يُؤْمِنُ أَحَدُكُمْ حَتَّى يُحِبَّ لأَخِيهِ مَا يُحِبُّ لِنَفْسِهِ قَالَ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ

ibnmajah:66 – Muḥammad b. Bashhār And Muḥammad b. al-Muthanná > Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > Qatādah > Anas b. Mālik

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'None of you truly believes until he loves for his brother" or he said "for his neighbor, what he loves for himself."

ابن ماجة:٦٦ – حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ يُؤْمِنُ أَحَدُكُمْ حَتَّى يُحِبَّ لأَخِيهِ أَوْ قَالَ لِجَارِهِ مَا يُحِبُّ لِنَفْسِهِ

ahmad:13963 – ʿAbdullāh > ʿUbaydullāh b. Muʿādh > Abīḥaddathanā Shuʿbah > Qatādah > Anas b. Mālik

The Prophet ﷺ said, "None of you will have faith till he wishes for his (Muslim) brother what he likes for himself." (Using translation from Bukhārī 13)

أحمد:١٣٩٦٣ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِيحَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لَا يُؤْمِنُ أَحَدُكُمْ حَتَّى يُحِبَّ لِأَخِيهِ مَا يُحِبُّ لِنَفْسِهِ

ahmad:13874 – Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah And Ḥajjāj > Shuʿbah > Qatādah > Anas b. Mālik

[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ , he said: "None of you truly believe until he loves for his brother or neighbor what he loves for himself." This narration was not contradicted by the mention of Hajj.

أحمد:١٣٨٧٤ – حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ وَحَجَّاجٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَا يُؤْمِنُ أَحَدُكُمْ حَتَّى يُحِبَّ لِأَخِيهِ أَوْ لِجَارِهِ مَا يُحِبُّ لِنَفْسِهِ وَلَمْ يَشُكَّ حَجَّاجٌ حَتَّى يُحِبَّ لِأَخِيهِ مَا يُحِبُّ لِنَفْسِهِ

ذِكْرُ نَفْيِ الْإِيمَانِ عَمَّنْ لَا يُحِبُّ لِأَخِيهِ مَا يُحِبُّ لِنَفْسِهِ

ibnhibban:234 – al-Ḥasan b. Sufyān > ʿUbaydullāh b. Muʿādh al-ʿAnbarī from my father > Shuʿbah > Qatādah > Anas b. Mālik

ابن حبّان:٢٣٤ – أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا يُؤْمِنُ أَحَدُكُمْ بِاللَّهِ حَتَّى يُحِبَّ لِأَخِيهِ مَا يُحِبُّ لِنَفْسِهِ»
