٤.٥۔ مسند عبد الله بن العباس بن عبد المطلب، عن النبي ﷺ ص ٢

ahmad:1888ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. Mahdī > Mālik > ʿAbdullāh b. al-Faḍl > Nāfiʿ b. Jubayr > Ibn ʿAbbās

Ibn ‘Abbas reported the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ as saying “A woman without a husband has more right to her person than her guardian and a virgin’s permission must be asked, her permission being her silence. These are the words of Al Qa’nabi. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2098)   

أحمد:١٨٨٨حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْأَيِّمُ أَحَقُّ بِنَفْسِهَا مِنْ وَلِيِّهَا وَالْبِكْرُ تُسْتَأْمَرُ فِي نَفْسِهَا وَإِذْنُهَا صُمَاتُهَا

[Machine] That Ibn Abbas used to perform ablution frequently and attributed that to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ كَانَ يَتَوَضَّأُ مَرَّةً مَرَّةً وَيُسْنِدُ ذَاكَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ

a woman from Khath'am asked the Prophet on the morning of the Day of Sacrifice: "O Messenger of Allah! The command of Allah to His slaves to perform Hajj has come, while my father is an old man and cannot sit firmly in the saddle. Can I perform Hajj on his behalf?" He said: "Yes. " (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2635)   

أحمد:١٨٩٠حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ سَمِعَ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنَ يَسَارٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ خَثْعَمَ سَأَلَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ غَدَاةَ جَمْعٍ وَالْفَضْلُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ رِدْفُهُ فَقَالَتْ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللهِ فِي الْحَجِّ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَسْتَمْسِكَ عَلَى الرَّحْلِ فَهَلْ تَرَى أَنْ أَحُجَّ عَنْهُ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ

"Al-Fadl and I came riding a female donkey of ours, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was leading the people at Arafat." Then he said something to that effect. "We passed by part of the row, and then we dismounted and left the donkey grazing, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺdid not say anything to us." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 752)   

أحمد:١٨٩١حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

جِئْتُ أَنَا وَالْفَضْلُ وَنَحْنُ عَلَى أَتَانٍ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي بِالنَّاسِ بِعَرَفَةَ فَمَرَرْنَا عَلَى بَعْضِ الصَّفِّ فَنَزَلْنَا عَنْهَا وَتَرَكْنَاهَا تَرْتَعُ وَدَخَلْنَا فِي الصَّفِّ فَلَمْ يَقُلْ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ شَيْئًا

[Machine] "That the Prophet ﷺ went out on the day of the victory and fasted until he reached Al-Kadid, then he broke his fast. And it is only taken from the later practice of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . It was asked to Sufyan, regarding his statement, 'It is only taken from the later practice.' Is it the words of Al-Zuhri or the words of Ibn Abbas? He said, 'It is mentioned in the narration.'"  

أحمد:١٨٩٢حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ خَرَجَ يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ فَصَامَ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ بِالْكَدِيدِ أَفْطَرَ وَإِنَّمَا يُؤْخَذُ بِالْآخِرِ مِنْ فِعْلِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قِيلَ لِسُفْيَانَ قَوْلُهُ إِنَّمَا يُؤْخَذُ بِالْآخِرِ مِنْ قَوْلِ الزُّهْرِيِّ أَوْ قَوْلِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ؟ قَالَ كَذَا فِي الْحَدِيثِ

"From Sufyan, from Az-Zuhri, from 'Ubaidullah bin 'Abdullah, from Ibn 'Abbas, that Sa'd bin 'Ubadah consulted the Prophet about a vow which his mother had to fulfill, but she died before doing so. The Messenger of Allah said: 'Fulfill it on her behalf.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3660)   

أحمد:١٨٩٣حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ حَدَّثَنَا الزُّهْرِيُّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ سَعْدَ بْنَ عُبَادَةَ سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنْ نَذْرٍ كَانَ عَلَى أُمِّهِ تُوُفِّيَتْ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَقْضِيَهُ؟ فَقَالَ اقْضِهِ عَنْهَا

AbuBakr adjured the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ said: Do not adjure an oath. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3267)  

أحمد:١٨٩٤حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ أَقْسَمَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لَا تُقْسِمْ

“I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: ‘Any skin that has been tanned has been purified.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3609)   

أحمد:١٨٩٥حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ عَنِ ابْنِ وَعْلَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ أَيُّمَا إِهَابٍ دُبِغَ فَقَدْ طَهُرَ

[Machine] "That the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Avoid lying on a flat stomach, and be upon you (to sleep) on a side like stone throwing.'"  

أحمد:١٨٩٦حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ زِيَادٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعْدٍ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ أَبِي مَعْبَدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ ارْفَعُوا عَنْ بَطْنِ مُحَسِّرٍ وَعَلَيْكُمْ بِمِثْلِ حَصَى الْخَذْفِ

"A previously married woman has more right (to decide) about herself (with regard to marriage), and a virgin should be consulted by her father, and her permission is her silence." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3264)   

أحمد:١٨٩٧حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ يَبْلُغُ بِهِ

النَّبِيَّ ﷺ الثَّيِّبُ أَحَقُّ بِنَفْسِهَا مِنْ وَلِيِّهَا وَالْبِكْرُ يَسْتَأْمِرُهَا أَبُوهَا فِي نَفْسِهَا وَإِذْنُهَا صُمَاتُهَا

she took her child by his arm and lifted him from her litter at the camel. She said Messenger of Allah (SWAS) can this (child) be credited with having performed Hajj. He replied Yes, and you will have a reward. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1736)  

أحمد:١٨٩٨حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِالرَّوْحَاءِ فَلَقِيَ رَكْبًا فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَقَالَ مَنِ القَوْمُ؟ قَالُوا الْمُسْلِمُونَ قَالُوا فَمَنْ أَنْتُمْ؟ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ فَفَزِعَتِ امْرَأَةٌ فَأَخَذَتْ بِعَضُدِ صَبِيٍّ فَأَخْرَجَتْهُ مِنْ مِحَفَّتِهَافَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَلْ لِهَذَا حَجٌّ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ وَلَكِ أَجْرٌ

[Machine] From Kurayb, the freed slave of Ibn Abbas, the meaning is:

"The Prophet ﷺ drew back the curtain when the people were in rows behind Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, and said: 'O people, there is nothing left of the features of Prophethood except a good dream that a Muslim sees or is seen by others for him.' Then he said: 'Verily, I have been forbidden from reciting the Qur'an when bowing or prostrating. As for bowing, glorify the Lord therein, and as for prostration, strive hard in supplication for it is more deserving of a response.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1045)  

أحمد:١٩٠٠حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ سُحَيْمٍ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ لَمْ أَحْفَظْ عَنْهُ غَيْرَهُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَعْبَدِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

كَشَفَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ السِّتَارَةِ وَالنَّاسُ صُفُوفٌ خَلْفَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَقَالَ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَبْقَ مِنْ مُبَشِّرَاتِ النُّبُوَّةِ إِلا الرُّؤْيَا الصَّالِحَةُ يَرَاهَا الْمُسْلِمُ أَوْ تُرَى لَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَلا إِنِّي نُهِيتُ أَنْ أَقْرَأَ رَاكِعًا أَوْ سَاجِدًا فَأَمَّا الرُّكُوعُ فَعَظِّمُوا فِيهِ الرَّبَّ وَأَمَّا السُّجُودُ فَاجْتَهِدُوا فِي الدُّعَاءِ فَقَمِنٌ أَنْ يُسْتَجَابَ لَكُمْ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not torture with the punishment of Allah."  

أحمد:١٩٠١حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا تُعَذِّبُوا بِعَذَابِ اللهِ ﷻ

“I heard Ibn ‘Abbas say: ‘I bear witness that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed before the sermon, then he delivered the sermon. And he thought that the women had not heard, so he went over to them and reminded them (of Allah) and preached to them and enjoined them to give in charity, and Bilal was spreading his hands like this, and the women started giving their earrings, rings and things.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1273)   

أحمد:١٩٠٢حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ

عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَشْهَدُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَّى قَبْلَ الْخُطْبَةِ فِي الْعِيدِ ثُمَّ خَطَبَ فَرَأَى أَنَّهُ لَمْ يُسْمِعِ النِّسَاءَ فَأَتَاهُنَّ فَذَكَّرَهُنَّ وَوَعَظَهُنَّ وَأَمَرَهُنَّ بِالصَّدَقَةِ فَجَعَلَتِ الْمَرْأَةُ تُلْقِي الْخُرْصَ وَالْخَاتَمَ وَالشَّيْءَ

[Machine] "That the Prophet ﷺ drank from a bucket of Zamzam water while standing, Sufyan said, 'This is what I believe.'"  

أحمد:١٩٠٣حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ شَرِبَ مِنْ دَلْوٍ مِنْ زَمْزَمَ قَائِمًا قَالَ سَفْيَانُ كَذَا أَحْسَبُ

[Machine] Narrated Ibn Abbas: The Prophet ﷺ drank, and Ibn Abbas stood on his right side, and Khalid bin Al-Walid stood on his left side. So the Prophet ﷺ said to him, "This drink is for you, and if you wish, you can give it to Khalid." He replied, "I do not prefer anyone over the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ."  

أحمد:١٩٠٤حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ ابْنِ جُدْعَانَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ حَرْمَلَةَ

عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ شَرِبَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَخَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ عَنْ شِمَالِهِ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ الشَّرْبَةُ لَكَ وَإِنْ شِئْتَ آثَرْتَ بِهَا خَالِدًا قَالَ مَا أُوثِرُ سُؤْرَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَحَدًا  

ahmad:1905Sufyān > Maʿmar > ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUthmān b. Khuthaym > Ibn Abū Mulaykah / Āstaʾdhan Ibn ʿAbbās > ʿĀʾishah Falam Yazal Bihā Banū Akhīhā > Akhāf > Yuzakkīwanī Falammā Adhinat Lah > Mā Baynak And Bayn > Talqay al-Aḥibbah Ilā

[Machine] that the soul would separate from the body, I loved the wives of the Messenger of Allah to him, and he only loved the Messenger of Allah if he was good. Your necklace fell on the night of Al-Abwa, and verses from the Quran were revealed in you. So, there is no mosque among the mosques of Muslims, except that your excuse is recited in it day and night. She said, "Leave me from your reproach, O Ibn Abbas. By Allah, I would have wished.  

أحمد:١٩٠٥حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ يَعْنِي اسْتَأْذَنَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ بِهَا بَنُو أَخِيهَا قَالَتْ أَخَافُ أَنْ يُزَكِّيَنِي فَلَمَّا أَذِنَتْ لَهُ قَالَ مَا بَيْنَكِ وَبَيْنَ أَنْ تَلْقَيِ الْأَحِبَّةَ إِلا

أَنْ يُفَارِقَ الرُّوحُ الْجَسَدَ كُنْتِ أَحَبَّ أَزْوَاجِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَيْهِ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ يُحِبُّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِلا طَيِّبًا وَسَقَطَتْ قِلادَتُكِ لَيْلَةَ الْأَبْوَاءِ فَنَزَلَتْ فِيكِ آيَاتٌ مِنَ القُرْآنِ فَلَيْسَ مَسْجِدٌ مِنْ مَسَاجِدِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ إِلا يُتْلَى فِيهِ عُذْرُكِ آنَاءَ اللَّيْلِ وَآنَاءَ النَّهَارِ فَقَالَتْ دَعْنِي مِنْ تَزْكِيَتِكَ يَا ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ فَوَاللهِ لَوَدِدْتُ

[Machine] He said to her, "You were named Umm al-Mu'minin (Mother of the Believers) to bring happiness, and indeed it was your name before you were born."  

أحمد:١٩٠٦حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ لَيْثٍ عَنْ رَجُلٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَهَا إِنَّمَا سُمِّيتِ أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ لِتَسْعَدِي وَإِنَّهُ لاسْمُكِ قَبْلَ أَنْ تُولَدِي  

ahmad:1907Sufyān > ʿAbd al-Karīm > ʿIkrimah > Ibn ʿAbbās In Shāʾ Allāh

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited breathing in the vessel, or blowing into it." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 1888)  

أحمد:١٩٠٧حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَهَى أَنْ يُتَنَفَّسَ فِي الْإِنَاءِ أَوْ يُنْفَخَ فِيهِ  

ahmad:1908Sufyān > Manṣūr > Sālim > Kurayb > Ibn ʿAbbās Yablugh Bih

The Prophet ﷺ said, "If anyone of you on having sexual relations with his wife said (and he must say it before starting) 'In the name of Allah. O Allah! Protect us from Satan and also protect what you bestow upon us (i.e. the coming offspring) from Satan, and if it is destined that they should have a child then, Satan will never be able to harm that offspring." (Using translation from Bukhārī 141)  

أحمد:١٩٠٨حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ سَالِمٍ عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ يَبْلُغُ بِهِ

النَّبِيَّ ﷺ لَوْ أَنَّ أَحَدَهُمْ إِذَا أَتَى أَهْلَهُ قَالَ بِسْمِ اللهِ اللهُمَّ جَنِّبْنِي الشَّيْطَانَ وَجَنِّبِ الشَّيْطَانَ مَا رَزَقْتَنَا فَقُضِيَ بَيْنَهُمَا وَلَدٌ مَا ضَرَّهُ الشَّيْطَانُ

[Machine] Ibn Abbas said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not leave anything except what is between these two revelations." We entered upon Muhammad bin Ali and he said the same. And Al-Mukhtar used to say that the revelation  

أحمد:١٩٠٩حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ رُفَيْعٍ قَالَ دَخَلْتُ أَنَا وَشَدَّادُ بْنُ مَعْقِلٍ عَلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فَقَالَ

ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ مَا تَرَكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِلا مَا بَيْنَ هَذَيْنِ اللَّوْحَيْنِ وَدَخَلْنَا عَلَى مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ فَقَالَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ قَالَ وَكَانَ الْمُخْتَارُ يَقُولُ الْوَحْيُ

[Machine] When Ibn Abbas used to come to the Prophet ﷺ, there was a Quran that he wanted to memorize. Allah ﷻ said, "Do not move your tongue with it to hasten it. Indeed, it is upon us to collect it in your heart and recite it. So when we have recited it, then follow its recitation." [Quran 75:17]  

أحمد:١٩١٠حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ وَقَالَ مُوسَى بْنُ أَبِي عَائِشَةَ سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ جُبَيْرٍ يَقُولُ قَالَ

ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ كَانَ إِذَا نَزَلَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قُرْآنٌ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَحْفَظَهُ قَالَ اللهُ ﷻ {لَا تُحَرِّكْ بِهِ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعْجَلَ بِهِ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا جَمْعَهُ وَقُرْآنَهُ فَإِذَا قَرَأْنَاهُ فَاتَّبِعْ قُرْآنَهُ} [القيامة 17]

[Machine] He said, after he performed Fajr prayer, he lay down until he blew. We used to say to 'Amr, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'My eyes sleep, but not my heart.'"  

أحمد:١٩١١حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي كُرَيْبٌعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَمَّا صَلَّى الْفَجْرَ اضْطَجَعَ حَتَّى نَفَخَ فَكُنَّا نَقُولُ لِعَمْرٍو إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ تَنَامُ عَيْنَايَ وَلا يَنَامُ قَلْبِي

[Machine] Once, Ibn Abbas stayed at my aunt Maimuna's house, and the Prophet ﷺ stood up during the night. He performed a light ablution, then stood and Ibn Abbas imitated him. The Prophet then came and stood, and he prayed, placing Ibn Abbas to his right. Then, he prayed with the Prophet ﷺ and lay down until he snored. The Mu'adhin came to him, then he stood up for prayer without performing ablution.  

أحمد:١٩١٢حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ

عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ بِتُّ عِنْدَ خَالَتِي مَيْمُونَةَ فَقَامَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ قَالَ فَتَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءًا خَفِيفًا فَقَامَ فَصَنَعَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ كَمَا صَنَعَ ثُمَّ جَاءَ فَقَامَ فَصَلَّى فَحَوَّلَهُ فَجَعَلَهُ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ ثُمَّ صَلَّى مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ ثُمَّ اضْطَجَعَ حَتَّى نَفَخَ فَأَتَاهُ الْمُؤَذِّنُ ثُمَّ قَامَ إِلَى الصَّلاةِ وَلَمْ يَتَوَضَّأْ

[Machine] I heard the Prophet ﷺ giving a sermon, saying, "Verily, you will meet Allah barefooted, naked, and uncircumcised."  

أحمد:١٩١٣حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ إِنَّكُمْ مُلاقُو اللهِ حُفَاةً عُرَاةً غُرْلًا

[Machine] Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: We were with Allah's Messenger ﷺ when a man came and his she-camel ran away. He got it back but it killed him while he was in a state of Ihram. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Wash him with water and Sidr (a plant) and shroud him in his two garments; neither perfume him nor cover his head, for Allah will resurrect him on the Day of Resurrection and he is Ihram (performed Hajj without Umrah)." He further said, "O Allah! Rinse him with water and snow and cleanse him from sins as a white garment is cleansed from filth."  

أحمد:١٩١٤حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ

عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُ كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَخَرَّ رَجُلٌ عَنْ بَعِيرِهِ فَوُقِصَ فَمَاتَ وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ اغْسِلُوهُ بِمَاءٍ وَسِدْرٍ وَادْفِنُوهُ فِي ثَوْبَيْهِ وَلا تُخَمِّرُوا رَأْسَهُ فَإِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ يَبْعَثُهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مُهِلًّا وَقَالَ مَرَّةً يُهِلُّ

[Machine] From Ibn Abbas: "And do not approach it (the prayer) while you are in a state of impurity."

[Machine] In His saying, "And We have not made the vision which We showed you except as a trial for the people." [Surah Al-Isra 60], He said, it is a vision of an eye that the Prophet ﷺ saw on the night of his ascension.  

أحمد:١٩١٦حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

فِي قَوْلِهِ ﷻ {وَمَا جَعَلْنَا الرُّؤْيَا الَّتِي أَرَيْنَاكَ إِلا فِتْنَةً لِلنَّاسِ} [الإسراء 60] قَالَ هِيَ رُؤْيَا عَيْنٍ رَآهَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لَيْلَةَ أُسْرِيَ بِهِ

'Whoever cannot find an Izar, let him wear pants, and whoever cannot find sandals, let him wear khuffs." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2672)   

أحمد:١٩١٧حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَقَالَ مَرَّةً سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺيَخْطُبُ يَقُولُ مَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ نَعْلَيْنِ فَلْيَلْبَسْ خُفَّيْنِ وَمَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ إِزَارًا فَلْيَلْبَسْ سَرَاوِيلَ

[Machine] He heard Ibn Abbas saying, "I performed prayer with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ eight rak'ahs in total, and seven rak'ahs in total." He said to him, "O Abu al-Sha'tha', do you think he delayed Dhuhr and hastened Asr, and delayed Maghrib and hastened Isha?" He said, "I think so."  

أحمد:١٩١٨حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ عَمْرٌو أَخْبَرَنِي جَابِرُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُ صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ثَمَانِيًا جَمِيعًا وَسَبْعًا جَمِيعًا قَالَ قُلْتُ لَهُ يَا أَبَا الشَّعْثَاءِ أَظُنُّهُ أَخَّرَ الظُّهْرَ وَعَجَّلَ الْعَصْرَ وَأَخَّرَ الْمَغْرِبَ وَعَجَّلَ الْعِشَاءَ؟ قَالَ وَأَنَا أَظُنَّ ذَلِكَ  

ahmad:1919Sufyān > ʿAmr > Abū al-Shaʿthāʾ Man Hī > Qult Yaqūlūn Maymūnah Qālaʾakhbaranī Ibn ʿAbbās

Ibn ‘Abbas said The Prophet ﷺ married Maimunah while he was in the sacred state(wearing ihram). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1844)   

أحمد:١٩١٩حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ عَمْرٌو قَالَ أَبُو الشَّعْثَاءِ مَنْ هِيَ؟ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَقُولُونَ مَيْمُونَةُ قَالَأَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَكَحَ مَيْمُونَةَ وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ

[Machine] "He said that I am among those whom the Prophet ﷺ sent ahead on the night of Muzdalifah, considering the weakness of his family. He also said once that the Prophet ﷺ sent ahead his family who were weak."

أَنَّهُ قَالَ أَنَا مِمَّنْ قَدَّمَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لَيْلَةَ الْمُزْدَلِفَةِ فِي ضَعَفَةِ أَهْلِهِ وَقَالَ مَرَّةً إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَدَّمَ ضَعَفَةَ أَهْلِهِ

[Machine] About Ibn Abbas, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ threw pebbles around the Kaaba to show the strength to the pagans.

عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ إِنَّمَا رَمَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حَوْلَ الْكَعْبَةِ لِيُرِيَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ قُوَّتَهُ

That the Messenger of Allah was treated by means of cupping when he was in Ihram. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2845)  

أحمد:١٩٢٢حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ عَمْرٌو أَوَّلًا فَحَفِظْنَاهُ عَنْ طَاوُسٍ وَقَالَ مَرَّةً أَخْبَرَنِي طَاوُسٌ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ احْتَجَمَ وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ

Ibn ‘Abbas said The Prophet ﷺ had himself cupped when he was in the sacred state(wearing ihram). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1835)  

أحمد:١٩٢٣وَقَدْ حَدَّثَنَاهُ سُفْيَانُ وَقَالَ عَمْرٌو عَنْ عَطَاءٍ وَطَاوُسٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ احْتَجَمَ وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ

The Prophet ﷺ said, 'When you eat, do not wipe your hands till you have licked it, or had it licked by somebody else." (Using translation from Bukhārī 5456)  

أحمد:١٩٢٤وقَالَ سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ عَطَاءٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا أَكَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلا يَمْسَحْ يَدَهُ حَتَّى يَلْعَقَهَا أَوْ يُلْعِقَهَا

"At-Tahsib is nothing, it is only a place that the Messenger of Allah camped at." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 922)  

أحمد:١٩٢٥حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ عَطَاءٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

لَيْسَ الْمُحَصَّبُ بِشَيْءٍ إِنَّمَا هُوَ مَنْزِلٌ نَزَلَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ delayed it until late into the night, and he said to him: "O Umar, women and children have fallen asleep." So he went out and said: "If it weren't for the hardship it would cause for my Ummah, I would have ordered them to perform it at this hour."  

أحمد:١٩٢٦حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ عَطَاءٍ وَابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ عَنْ عَطَاءٍعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَخَّرَهَا حَتَّى ذَهَبَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ مَا شَاءَ اللهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ نَامَ النِّسَاءُ وَالْوِلْدَانُ فَخَرَجَ فَقَالَ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ أَنْ يُصَلُّوهَا هَذِهِ السَّاعَةَ

The Apostle of Allah ﷺ had been commanded that he should prostrate on the seven (bones) and he was forbidden to fold back the hair and clothing. And in the narration transmitted by Abu Rabi' (the words are):" on the seven bones and I was forbidden to fold back the hair and clothing". According to Abu'l-Rabi' (the seven bones are): The hands, the knees, and the (extremities) of the feet and the forehead. (Using translation from Muslim 490a)  

أحمد:١٩٢٧حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ طَاوُسٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

أُمِرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ يَسْجُدَ عَلَى سَبْعٍ وَنُهِيَ أَنْ يَكُفَّ شَعَرَهُ وَثِيَابَهُ  

ahmad:1928Sufyān > ʿAmr > Ṭāwus > Ibn ʿAbbās

[Machine] According to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , a person should not be sold until the payment is received. Ibn Abbas added his opinion, saying, "And I do not think that anything should be given except in return for something of equal value."  

أحمد:١٩٢٨حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ طَاوُسٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ أَمَّا الَّذِي نَهَى

عَنْهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ يُبَاعَ حَتَّى يُقْبَضَ فَالطَّعَامُ وَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ بِرَأْيِهِ وَلَا أَحْسَبُ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ إِلَّا مِثْلَهُ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed in Medina as a resident, not as a traveler, seven and eight.  

أحمد:١٩٢٩حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ الْجُمَحِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ أَبَانَ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الْمَدِينَةِ مُقِيمًا غَيْرَ مُسَافِرٍ سَبْعًا وَثَمَانِيًا

a man died during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ,and he did not leave any heirs except for a slave that he had freed. So the Prophet gave him his inheritance (Using translation from Tirmidhī 2106)   

أحمد:١٩٣٠حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ عَوْسَجَةَ

عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَجُلٌ مَاتَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَلَمْ يَتْرُكْ وَارِثًا إِلا عَبْدًا هُوَ أَعْتَقَهُ فَأَعْطَاهُ مِيرَاثَهُ  

ahmad:1931Sufyān > ʿAmr > Muḥammad b. Ḥunayn

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not fast until you see it (the moon), or he said, fast upon its sighting."  

أحمد:١٩٣١حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حُنَيْنٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَجِبْتُ مِمَّنْ يَتَقَدَّمُ الشَّهْرَ وَقَدْ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا تَصُومُوا حَتَّى تَرَوْهُ أَوْ قَالَ صُومُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ

[Machine] Ibn Abbas heard that we were with the Prophet ﷺ and then he went to relieve himself. After that, he came out and called for food and said once, "Bring the food." So it was said to him, "O Messenger of Allah, don't you want to perform ablution?" He said, "I haven't prayed so I will perform ablution."  

أحمد:١٩٣٢حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْحُوَيْرِثِ

سَمِعَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ كُنَّا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَأَتَى الْغَائِطَ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَدَعَا بِالطَّعَامِ وَقَالَ مَرَّةً فَأُتِيَ بِالطَّعَامِ فَقِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَلا تَوَضَّأُ؟ قَالَ لَمْ أُصَلِّ فَأَتَوَضَّأَ

"I used to know that the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ended by the takbir." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1335)   

أحمد:١٩٣٣حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ أَبِي مَعْبَدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

مَا كُنْتُ أَعْرِفُ انْقِضَاءَ صَلاةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِلا بِالتَّكْبِيرِ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A man should not be alone with a woman, and a woman should not travel without a male relative. A man came and said, 'My wife has left for Hajj and I have enrolled in battle.' He said, 'Go and perform Hajj with your wife.'"  

أحمد:١٩٣٤حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ أَبِي مَعْبَدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَا يَخْلُوَنَّ رَجُلٌ بِامْرَأَةٍ وَلا تُسَافِرُ امْرَأَةٌ إِلا وَمَعَهَا ذُو مَحْرَمٍ وَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ إِنَّ امْرَأَتِي خَرَجَتِ الَى الْحَجِّ وَإِنِّي اكْتَتَبْتُ فِي غَزْوَةِ كَذَا وَكَذَا قَالَ انْطَلِقْ فَاحْجُجْ مَعَ امْرَأَتِكَ  

ahmad:1935Sufyān > Sulaymān b. Abū Muslim Khāl Ibn Abū Najīḥ > Saʿīd b. Jubayr Yaqūluqāl Ibn ʿAbbās Yawm al-Khamīs And Mā Yawm al-Khamīs Thum Baká Ḥattá Bal Damʿuh

[Machine] Once, his tears turned to stone, and we said, "O Abu al-Abbas, what is the matter with Thursday?" He said, "The Prophet's ﷺ pain became severe, so he said, 'Bring me a paper and ink so that I may write for you a book after which you shall never go astray and differ.' The Prophet ﷺ should not allow any disagreement among his followers." They asked, "What should we do with it?" He said, "Sufyan means ask him, so they went to ask him again. He said, 'Leave me alone, for what I am in now is better than what you are calling me to.' He ordered three things and Sufyan said once he instructed three things. He said, 'Expel the pagans from the Arabian Peninsula and treat the delegation as I used to treat them.' Sa`id remained silent about the third. So I don't know if he deliberately remained silent about it or forgot it." And Sufyan said once, "Either he abandoned it or forgot it."  

أحمد:١٩٣٥حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي مُسْلِمٍ خَالِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ سَمِعَ سَعِيدَ بْنَ جُبَيْرٍ يَقُولُقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ يَوْمُ الْخَمِيسِ وَمَا يَوْمُ الْخَمِيسِ؟ ثُمَّ بَكَى حَتَّى بَلَّ دَمْعُهُ

وَقَالَ مَرَّةً دُمُوعُهُ الْحَصَى قُلْنَا يَا أَبَا الْعَبَّاسِ وَمَا يَوْمُ الْخَمِيسِ؟ قَالَ اشْتَدَّ بِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَجَعُهُ فَقَالَ ائْتُونِي أَكْتُبْ لَكُمْ كِتَابًا لَا تَضِلُّوا بَعْدَهُ أَبَدًا فَتَنَازَعُوا وَلا يَنْبَغِي عِنْدَ نَبِيٍّ تَنَازُعٌ فَقَالُوا مَا شَأْنُهُ أَهَجَرَ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ يَعْنِي هَذَى اسْتَفْهِمُوهُ فَذَهَبُوا يُعِيدُونَ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ دَعُونِي فَالَّذِي أَنَا فِيهِ خَيْرٌ مِمَّا تَدْعُونِي إِلَيْهِ وَأَمَرَ بِثَلاثٍ وَقَالَ سُفْيَانُ مَرَّةً أَوْصَى بِثَلاثٍ قَالَ أَخْرِجُوا الْمُشْرِكِينَ مِنْ جَزِيرَةِ الْعَرَبِ وَأَجِيزُوا الْوَفْدَ بِنَحْوِ مَا كُنْتُ أُجِيزُهُمْ وَسَكَتَ سَعِيدٌ عَنِ الثَّالِثَةِ فَلا أَدْرِي أَسَكَتَ عَنْهَا عَمْدًا وَقَالَ مَرَّةً أَوْ نَسِيَهَا وقَالَ سُفْيَانُ مَرَّةً وَإِمَّا أَنْ يَكُونَ تَرَكَهَا أَوْ نَسِيَهَا

“The people were going in all directions, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘No one should depart until the last thing he does is (Tawaf around) the House.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3070)  

أحمد:١٩٣٦حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ طَاوُسٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ كَانَ النَّاسُ يَنْصَرِفُونَ فِي كُلِّ وَجْهٍ فَقَالَ

رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا يَنْفِرُ أَحَدٌ حَتَّى يَكُونَ آخِرُ عَهْدِهِ بِالْبَيْتِ

"When the Prophet ﷺ came (to Al-Madinah), they used to pay in advance for dates, two or three years in advance. He said: 'Whoever pays in advance for dates, let him pay for a known amount or a known weight, to be delivered at a known time.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2280)   

أحمد:١٩٣٧حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْمِنْهَالِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

قَدِمَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ الْمَدِينَةَ وَهُمْ يُسَلِّفُونَ فِي التَّمْرِالسَّنَتَيْنِ وَالثَّلاثَ فَقَالَ مَنْ سَلَّفَ فَلْيُسَلِّفْ فِي كَيْلٍ مَعْلُومٍ وَوَزْنٍ مَعْلُومٍ إِلَى أَجَلٍ مَعْلُومٍ
