ahmad-zuhd:692 – ʿAbdullāh > Bī > Wakīʿ > ʿUmar b. al-Saʿadī > Awfá b. Dalham al-ʿAdawī > Balaghanī > ʿAlī

[Machine] He said, "Learn knowledge; you will be known for it and act upon it; you will be among its people. For there will come after you a time when truth is rejected, and nine out of ten people will not be saved except every sleeping one. Those are the leaders of guidance and the lamps of knowledge."  

الزهد لأحمد:٦٩٢ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أبِي حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ السَّعَدِيُّ عَنْ أَوْفَى بْنِ دَلْهَمٍ الْعَدَوِيِّ قَالَ بَلَغَنِي عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ؓ

أَنَّهُ قَالَ «تَعَلَّمُوا الْعِلْمَ؛ تُعْرَفُوا بِهِ وَاعْمَلُوا بِهِ؛ تَكُونُوا مِنْ أَهْلِهِ فَإِنَّهُ سَيَأْتِي مِنْ بَعْدِكُمْ زَمَانٌ يُنْكِرُ الْحَقَّ فِيهِ تِسْعَةُ أَعْشَارِهِمْ لَا يَنْجُو فِيهِ إِلَّا كُلُّ نُؤْمَةٍ أُولَئِكَ أَئِمَّةُ الْهُدَى وَمَصَابِيحُ الْعِلْمِ»

[Machine] "Learn knowledge so that you may be recognized by it and act upon it so that you may be considered amongst its people. For surely, there will come a time after this where the people will not recognize their own nineteen attributes, and none will be safe from it except for every sleeper. Those are the leaders of guidance and the lanterns of knowledge, they are not the followers of mischief or the spreaders of lies." Abu Muhammad said, "A sleeper is oblivious to evil, and the spreaders of lies talk excessively, and the gossipers are those who pass on rumors."  

الدارمي:٢٦٥ – أَخْبَرَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مَزْيَدٍ عَنْ أَوْفَى بْنِ دَلْهَمٍ أَنَّهُ بَلَغَهُ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ

«تَعَلَّمُوا الْعِلْمَ تُعْرَفُوا بِهِ وَاعْمَلُوا بِهِ تَكُونُوا مِنْ أَهْلِهِ فَإِنَّهُ سَيَأْتِي بَعْدَ هَذَا زَمَانٌ لَا يَعْرِفُ فِيهِ تِسْعَةُ عُشَرَائِهِمُ الْمَعْرُوفَ وَلَا يَنْجُو مِنْهُ إِلَّا كُلُّ نُوَمَةٍ فَأُولَئِكَ أَئِمَّةُ الْهُدَى وَمَصَابِيحُ الْعِلْمِ لَيْسُوا بِالْمَسَايِيحِ وَلَا الْمَذَايِيعِ الْبُذْرِ» قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ نُوَمَةٌ غَافِلٌ عَنِ الشَّرِّ الْمَذَايِيعُ كَثِيرُ الْكَلَامِ وَالْبُذْرُ النَّمَّامُونَ

" عَنْ عَلِىٍّ قَالَ: تَعَلَّمُوا الْقُرْآنَ تُعْرَفُوا بِه، وَاعْمَلُوا بِهِ تَكُونُوا مِنْ أَهْلِهِ، فَإِنَّهُ سَيَأتِى مِنْ بَعْدِكُمْ زَمَانٌ يُنْكَرُ فِيهِ الْحَقَّ تسْعَةُ أَعْشَارِهِمْ، وَأَنَّهُ لَا يَنْجُو فيه إِلَّا كُلُّ نَوْمَةٍ منبَتٍّ مَيِّتٍ، اُولَئِكَ أَئِمَّةُ الْهُدَى، وَمَصَابِيحُ الْعِلم، لَيْسُوا بِالْعجِلِ الْمَذَاييع الْبَذرَ".
