[Machine] So he gave it to him, then he recited this verse: "You will never attain righteousness until you spend [in the way of Allah] from that which you love." [Quran 3:92]  

الزهد لأحمد:١٩٣٤ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ شُجَاعٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ زُبَيْدٍ عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ أَنَّهُ جَاءَهُ سَائِلٌ يَسْأَلُ قَالَ فَخَرَجَ إِلَيْهِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ بَارِدَةٍ قَالَ فَإِذَا هُوَ كَأَنَّهُ مَقْرُورٌ قَالَ فَنَزَعَ بُرْنُسًا لَهُ فَكَسَاهُ كَانَ يَزْعُمُ أَنَّهُ مِنْ خَزٍّ قَالَ

فَأَعْطَاهُ إِيَّاهُ ثُمَّ تَلَا هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ {لَنْ تَنَالُوا الْبِرَّ حَتَّى تُنْفِقُوا مِمَّا تُحِبُّونَ} [آل عمران 92]
