[Machine] The passage translates to: "Al-Rabi'i used to say, when asked how he was doing, 'We have become weak and sinful, we eat our provisions and wait for our fate.'"  

الزهد لأحمد:١٩٣١حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ شُجَاعِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ عَنْ أَبِي طُعْمَةَ نُسَيْرِ بْنِ ذُعْلُوقٍ عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ مَاعِزٍ قَالَ

كَانَ الرَّبِيعُ يَقُولُ [268] إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُ كَيْفَ أَصْبَحْتَ يَا أَبَا يَزِيدَ؟ يَقُولُ «أَصْبَحْنَا ضُعَفَاءَ مُذْنِبِينَ نَأْكُلُ أَرْزَاقَنَا ونَنْتَظِرُ آجَالَنَا»
