ahmad-zuhd:1898ʿAbdullāh from my father > Sayyār > Jaʿfar > Kānat al-Ghuyūm Tajīʾ And Tadhhab Walā Tumṭir > Mālik Antum Tastabṭiʾūn al-Maṭar > Astabṭiʾ al-Ḥijārah

[Machine] The clouds would come and go without raining, so Malik would say, "You are delaying the rain, and I am delaying the stones. If it doesn't rain stones, then we are fine."  

الزهد لأحمد:١٨٩٨حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا سَيَّارٌ حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرٌ قَالَ

كَانَتِ الْغُيُومُ تَجِيءُ وَتَذْهَبُ وَلَا تُمْطِرُ فَيَقُولُ مَالِكٌ «أَنْتُمْ تَسْتَبْطِئُونَ الْمَطَرَ وَأَنَا أَسْتَبْطِئُ الْحِجَارَةَ إِنْ لَمْ تُمْطِرْ حِجَارَةً فَنَحْنُ بِخَيْرٍ»
