[Machine] Whenever his grant was mentioned, he would give it to the family of so-and-so and so-and-so, until his son would say to him, "You have children, so you should keep something for them."  

الزهد لأحمد:١٥٨٣حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ

كَانَ إِذَا خَرَجَ عَطَاؤُهُ حَثَا لِآلِ فُلَانٍ وَآلِ فُلَانٍ حَتَّى يَقُولَ لَهُ ابْنُهُ «إِنَّ لَكَ عِيَالًا فَيَطْرَحُ إِلَيْهِ مَا بَقِيَ»
