[Machine] Mutaraff used to travel from his village to Basra, and his whip would light up for him. His brother would say to him, "If we told people about this, they would accuse us of lying." The one who accuses me of lying is the biggest liar. Abdullah informed us, Ali ibn Muslim informed us, Abdul Samad informed us, Hammad reported from Ali ibn Zaid, from Mutaraff, from Ka'b who said: "If the wind was held back from people for three [days], you would hear everything between the heavens and the earth."  

الزهد لأحمد:١٣٦٧حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ الَجَرَوِيُّ قَالَ كَتَبَ إِلَيْنَا ضَمْرَةُ عَنْ أَبِي عَطَاءٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

كَانَ مُطَرِّفٌ يُقْبِلُ مِنْ ضَيْعَتِهِ إِلَى الْبَصْرَةِ فَيُضِيءُ لَهُ سَوْطُهُ فَيَقُولُ لَهُ أَخُوهُ إِنَّا لَوْ حَدَّثْنَا النَّاسَ بِكَذَا كَذَّبُونَا قَالَ الَّذِي يُكَذِّبُ بِهِ أَكْذَبُ

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ، عَنْ كَعْبٍ قَالَ: «لَوْ حُبِسَتِ الرِّيحُ عَنِ النَّاسِ ثَلَاثًا لَأَنْتَنَ مَا بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ»
