I was not commanded to build high mosques. Ibn Abbas said: You will certainly adorn them as the Jews and Christians did.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَا أُمِرْتُ بِتَشْيِيدِ الْمَسَاجِدِ قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ لَتُزَخْرِفُنَّهَا كَمَا زَخْرَفَتِ الْيَهُودُ وَالنَّصَارَى

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I was not commanded to build the mosque." Ibn Abbas said, "You should adorn it as the Jews and Christians adorned their places of worship." This is the wording of the hadith of Ar-Ruzdibari, and in the narration of Abu Sa'eed it mentioned the mosques but did not mention the Christians.
