When the spoils (fai') came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he divided it that day ; he gave two portions to a married man and one to a bachelor. The narrator Ibn al-Musaffa added: We were summoned, and I would be summoned before 'Ammar. So I was summoned and he gave me two portions, for I had a family ; then 'Ammar b. Yasir was summoned after me and given one.  

أبو داود:٢٩٥٣ – حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُصَفَّى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ جَمِيعًا عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَوْفِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا أَتَاهُ الْفَىْءُ قَسَمَهُ فِي يَوْمِهِ فَأَعْطَى الآهِلَ حَظَّيْنِ وَأَعْطَى الْعَزَبَ حَظًّا زَادَ ابْنُ الْمُصَفَّى فَدُعِينَا وَكُنْتُ أُدْعَى قَبْلَ عَمَّارٍ فَدُعِيتُ فَأَعْطَانِي حَظَّيْنِ وَكَانَ لِي أَهْلٌ ثُمَّ دُعِيَ بَعْدِي عَمَّارُ بْنُ يَاسِرٍ فَأَعْطَى لَهُ حَظًّا وَاحِدًا

[Machine] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to allocate a portion of his day's earnings and give two shares to the married people and one share to the singles. We were invited and I was invited before Ammar ibn Yasir, so I was given two shares. I had a family at that time. Then, after Ammar ibn Yasir was invited, he was given one share. A piece of golden chain remained, so the Prophet ﷺ lifted it with the end of his stick and then lifted it saying, "How will you be on the day when you will have an abundance of this?"

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا جَاءَ فَيْءٌ قَسَمَهُ مِنْ يَوْمِهِ فَأَعْطَى الْآهِلَ حَظَّيْنِ وَأَعْطَى الْعَزَبَ حَظًّا وَاحِدًا فَدُعِينَا وَكُنْتُ أُدْعَى قَبْلَ عَمَّارِ بْنِ يَاسِرٍفَدُعِيتُ فَأَعْطَانِي حَظَّيْنِ وَكَانَ لِي أَهْلٌ ثُمَّ دَعَا بَعْدُ عَمَّارَ بْنَ يَاسِرٍ فَأُعْطِيَ حَظًّا وَاحِدًا فَبَقِيَتْ قِطْعَةُ سِلْسِلَةٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَجَعَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَرْفَعُهَا بِطَرَفِ عَصَاهُ ثُمَّ رَفَعَهَا وَهُوَ يَقُولُ كَيْفَ أَنْتُمْ يَوْمَ يَكْثُرُ لَكُمْ مِنْ هَذَا؟

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to receive provisions, and he would distribute them among the families, giving two shares to the families and one share to the bachelors. It was narrated to us by Abu Ali Al-Ruzbary, I am Muhammad ibn Bakr, narrated by Abu Dawud, narrated by Ibn Al-Musaffa, narrated by Abu Al-Mughira, from Safwan ibn Amr, mentioning it in a similar manner, except that he said: "He also gave one share to the bachelors." So we were invited and I was called before Ammar, and I was given two shares. I had a family, and after me, Ammar ibn Yaser was called and he was given one share.
