that the Prophet ﷺ said: "O 'Uthman! Indeed Allah may give you a shirt, and if they wish that you take it off, do not take it off for them."

الترمذي:٣٧٠٥ – حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلاَنَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حُجَيْنُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ يَا عُثْمَانُ إِنَّهُ لَعَلَّ اللَّهَ يُقَمِّصُكَ قَمِيصًا فَإِنْ أَرَادُوكَ عَلَى خَلْعِهِ فَلاَ تَخْلَعْهُ لَهُمْ وَفِي الْحَدِيثِ قِصَّةٌ طَوِيلَةٌ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Uthman, "Indeed, Allah is dressing you in a garment. If the hypocrites want you to remove it, then do not remove it."

الحاكم:٤٥٤٤ – أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ الْقَاضِي بِمَرْوَ ثنا الْحَارِثُ بْنُ أَبِي أُسَامَةَ ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ دَاوُدَ الضَّبِّيُّ ثنا الْفَرَجُ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ الزُّبَيْدِيِّ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لِعُثْمَانَ «إِنَّ اللَّهَ مُقَمِّصُكَ قَمِيصًا فَإِنْ أَرَادَكَ الْمُنَافِقُونَ عَلَى خَلْعِهِ فَلَا تَخْلَعْهُ»

هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ عَالِي الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ أنى له الصحة ومداره على فرج بن فضالة
