[Machine] To mourn Umar, sadness struck him once or twice, then he said: "Umar ibn al-Khattab was a strong fortress for Islam, he would enter it and not leave it. The fortress was destroyed, he was mourned, and then he said: "Uthman ibn Affan was chosen as his successor, and we have not obtained anything better than it."  

الطبراني:٨٨٤٤حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ ثنا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ طَلْحَةَ عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ أَنَّ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ صَعِدَ الْمِنْبَرَ وَهُوَ يُرِيدُ

أَنْ يَنْعَى عُمَرَ فَخَنَقَتْهُ الْعَبْرَةُ مَرَّةً أَوْ مَرَّتَيْنِ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ كَانَ حِصْنًا حَصِينًا لِلْإِسْلَامِ يَدْخُلُ فِيهِ وَلَا يَخْرُجُ مِنْهُ فَانْهَدَمَ الْحِصْنُ ثُمَّ نَعَاهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ وَاسْتُخْلِفَ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ فَلَمْ نَأْلُ عَنْ خَيْرِهَا فَوْقُ
