[Machine] I loved Umar so much that I feared Allah, and if I knew that a dog loved Umar, I would have loved it too. And if I could, I would have been a servant to Umar. Truly, everything found loss in his absence, even the flies. Indeed, his migration was a victory, and his reign was a mercy.  

الطبراني:٨٨١٤حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبَانَ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُحَارِبِيُّ عَنْ رَقَبَةَ بْنِ مَصْقَلَةَ الْعَبْدِيِّ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ أَبِي النَّجُودِ عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ

«لَقَدْ أَحْبَبْتُ عُمَرَ حَتَّى لَقَدْ خِفْتُ اللهَ وَلَوْ أَعْلَمُ أَنَّ كَلْبًا يُحِبُّ عُمَرَ لَأَحْبَبْتُهُ وَلَوَدِدْتُ أَنِّي كُنْتُ خَادِمًا لِعُمَرَ ؓ وَلَقَدْ وَجَدَ فَقْدَهُ كُلُّ شَيْءٍ حَتَّى الْعِضَاهَ وَإِنَّ هِجْرَتَهُ كَانَتْ نَصْرًا وَإِنَّ سُلْطَانَهُ كَانَ رَحْمَةً»
