[Machine] I was in Damascus sitting on top of a house when Abu Umamah passed by me, so I followed him. Suddenly, we were at the staircase of the mosque, and the heads of the Khawarij were exposed. He said, "The worst of killers are those under the shade of the sky, and the best of those killed are those who are killed by them." I asked him, "Did you hear this from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ?" He replied, "Yes, I swear by the Lord of the Ka'bah, I swear by the Lord of the Ka'bah," repeatedly, then he started crying. I asked, "Why are you crying when you have said what you said?" He said, "I am showing mercy to people who intended to do something but didn't. As for you, you are in a land where they are numerous. May Allah protect you from them."
