[Machine] Al-Hajjaj, beware! I mean, may Allah deafen your hearing and make you remember Anas. So he said, "Surely we belong to Allah and to Him we shall return." Then he left from being with him and said, "If it were not for me remembering my children and fearing for them, I would have spoken to him in a way that he would never respond to me."  

الطبراني:٧٠٤حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ هَاشِمٍ الْبَغَوِيُّ ثنا قَطَنُ بْنُ نُسَيْرٍ الذِّرَاعُ حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ قَالَ كُنْتُ فِي الْقَصْرِ مَعَ الْحَجَّاجِ وَهُوَ يَعْرِضُ النَّاسَ مِنْ أَجْلِ ابْنِ الْأَشْعَثِ فَجَاءَ أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ حَتَّى دَنَا فَقَالَ لَهُ الْحَجَّاجُ هِيهِ يَا خِبْثَةُ جَوَّالٌ فِي الْفِتْنَةِ مَرَّةً مَعَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ وَمَرَّةً مَعَ ابْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ وَمَرَّةً مَعَ ابْنِ الْأَشْعَثِ أَمَا وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَأَسْتَأْصِلَنَّكَ كَمَا تُسْتَأْصَلُ الصَّمْغَةُ وَلَأُجَرِّدَنَّكَ كَمَا يُجَرَّدُ الضَّبُّ فَقَالَ مَنْ يَعْنِي الْأَمِيرُ أَصْلَحَهُ اللهُ؟ قَالَ

الْحَجَّاجُ إِيَّاكَ أَعْنِي أَصَمَّ اللهُ سَمْعَكَ فَاسْتَرْجَعَ أَنَسٌ ؓ فَقَالَ «إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ» ثُمَّ خَرَجَ مِنْ عِنْدِهِ فَقَالَ «لَوْلَا أَنِّي ذَكَرْتُ وَلَدِي فَخَشِيتُهُ عَلَيْهِمْ لَكَلَّمْتُهُ فِي مَقَامِي بِكَلَامٍ لَا يَسْتَجِيبُنِي بَعْدَهُ أَبَدًا»
