[Machine] Zaid did not find Marwan sitting for him behind the dome as the scribe. Instead, he started asking Zaid and the scribe wrote down what Zaid told him. He said, "O Abu Sa'id, I can only see that we have achieved what you were avoiding." Abu Sa'id said, "By Allah, I will not throw it until I hear it." So, he brought the book, tore it, and said, "Verily, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade us from documenting his hadith."  

الطبراني:٤٨٧١حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبَانَ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ شَوْذَبٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الزُّهْرِيُّ ثنا أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ بْنُ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنْ أَخِيهِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ خَارِجَةَ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ أَنَّ مَرْوَانَ قَالَ لِزَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ يَا أَبَا سَعِيدٍ لَوْ أَنَّكَ تَرَكْتَنَا لَكَتَبْنَا عَنْكَ حَدِيثَكَ فَقَالَ

زَيْدٌ لَا فَأَجْلَسَ لَهُ مَرْوَانُ كَاتِبًا خَلْفَ الْقُبَّةِ فَجَعَلَ هُوَ يَسْأَلُ زَيْدًا وَيَكْتُبُ الْكَاتِبُ مَا يُحَدِّثُ بِهِ زَيْدٌ فَقَالَ يَا أَبَا سَعِيدٍ مَا أُرَانَا إِلَّا قَدْ ظَفِرْنَا بِمَا أَبَيْتَ قَالَ وَاللهِ لَا أَرْمِي حَتَّى أُوتَى بِهِ فَجَاءَ بِالْكِتَابِ فَشَقَّهُ وَقَالَ «إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَانَا أَنْ نَكْتُبَ حَدِيثَهُ»
