[Machine] On the day of the Battle of Yamamah, many people who used to recite the Quran were killed. It was mentioned that about four hundred people were killed. So, I went to Abu Bakr and said to him, "If there is another calamity where the Quran might be lost, what do you think we should do?" Abu Bakr said, "I am not going to change anything that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did." So, he sent a message to Umar ibn Al-Khattab and he said the same thing, "We will not change anything that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did." Zaid ibn Thabit said, "Then what should we do?" They both agreed that I was right, and Abu Bakr wrote it down on parchments and pieces of bones.
