[Machine] An Arab came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and asked him about ablution. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Three for the traveler and one for the resident." If the Arab had insisted, the Prophet ﷺ would have allowed him to wipe over his socks.  

الطبراني:٣٧٥٨حَدَّثَنَا أَسْلَمُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ثنا أَبُو الشَّعْثَاءِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ الْجَدَلِيِّ عَنْ خُزَيْمَةَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ قَالَ

جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَسَأَلَهُ عَنِ الْوُضُوءِ؟ فَقَالَ «ثَلَاثًا لِلْمُسَافِرِ وَيَوْمٌ لِلْحَاضِرِ» وَلَوِ اسْتَزَادَهُ الْأَعْرَابِيُّ لَزَادَهُ يَعْنِي الْمَسْحَ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ
