By Allah, I had not stayed there for long before I entered upon Mukhtar and saw the head of Ubaidullah ibn Ziyad on a tray. By Allah, I had not stayed there for long before I entered upon Mus'ab ibn Zubayr and saw the head of Mukhtar on a tray. By Allah, I had not stayed there for long before I entered upon Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan and saw the head of Mus'ab ibn Zubayr on a tray."  

«دَخَلْتُ عَلَى عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ وَإِذَا رَأْسُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ؓ قُدَّامَهُ عَلَى تُرْسٍ فَوَاللهِ مَا لَبِثْتُ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا حَتَّى دَخَلْتُ عَلَى الْمُخْتَارِ فَإِذَا رَأْسُ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَلَى تُرْسٍ فَوَاللهِ مَا لَبِثْتُ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا حَتَّى دَخَلْتُ عَلَى مُصْعَبِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ وَإِذَا رَأْسُ الْمُخْتَارِ عَلَى تُرْسٍ فَوَاللهِ مَا لَبِثْتُ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا حَتَّى دَخَلْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ مَرْوَانَ وَإِذَا رَأْسُ مُصْعَبِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَلَى تُرْسٍ»
