[Machine] I asked Abu Ishaq, "Are you older than Ash-Sha'bi?" He replied to me, "Ash-Sha'bi is older than me by a year or two." Abu Ishaq then saw Ali and described him to us as having a large stomach. Shu'bah said, "Abu Ishaq was older than Abu Al-Bakhtari, and Abu Al-Bakhtari did not meet Ali nor see him."  

الطبراني:١٥٩حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الصَّائِغُ الْمَكِّيُّ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينٍ ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ثنا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ

سَأَلْتُ أَبَا إِسْحَاقَ أَنْتَ أَكْبَرُ مِنَ الشَّعْبِيِّ؟ فَقَالَ لِي الشَّعْبِيُّ أَكْبَرُ مِنِّي بِسَنَةٍ أَوْ سَنَتَيْنِ قَالَ وَرَأَى أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ عَلِيًّا ؓ وَكَانَ يَصِفُهُ لَنَا «عَظِيمَ الْبَطْنِ أَجْلَحَ» قَالَ شُعْبَةُ «وَكَانَ أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ أَكْبَرَ مِنْ أَبِي الْبَخْتَرِيِّ وَلَمْ يُدْرِكْ أَبُو الْبَخْتَرِيِّ عَلِيًّا وَلَمْ يَرَهُ»
