[Machine] When it was the day of conquest, Khuzay'ah killed a man from Quraysh named Al-Harith. So I went to the Prophet ﷺ and informed him. He said, "Did they kill him in violation of the treaty or after its expiration?" They replied, "After its expiration." He then said, "We have fulfilled our duty" and we went to the Prophet ﷺ and informed him. He accepted our reasoning, and it was the first instance of reasoning in Islam.  

الطبراني:١٥٣٥٩حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمَدِينِيِّ ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ نُجَيْدِ بْنِ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ الْحُصَيْنِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ نُجَيْدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ قَالَ

لَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْفَتْحِ قَتَلَتْ خُزَاعَةُ رَجُلًا مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ يُقَالُ لَهُ الْحَارِثُ فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ فَقَالَ «أَقَبْلَ النَّهْيِ قَتَلُوهُ أَوْ بَعْدُ؟» فَقَالُوا بَلْ بَعْدُ قَالَ فَأَتَيْنَا النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَأَخْبَرْنَاهُ فَعَقَلْنَاهُ فَكَانَ أَوَّلَ عَقْلٍ كَانَ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ
