Jubair bin Mut’im reported the Prophet ﷺ as saying about the prisoners taken at Badr. If Mut’im bin ‘Adi had been alive and spoken to me about these filthy ones, I would have left them for him. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2689)
قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «لَوْ كَانَ مُطْعِمُ بْنُ عَدِيٍّ حَيًّا ثُمَّ كَلَّمَنِي فِي هَؤُلَاءِ النَّتْنَى أَوْ فِي هَؤُلَاءِ الْأُسَارَى لَأَطْلَقْتُهُمْ يَعْنِي أُسَارَى بَدْرٍ»
The Prophet ﷺ talked about war prisoners of Badr saying, "Had Al-Mutʿim bin Adi been alive and interceded with me for these mean people, I would have freed them for his sake."
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ فِي أُسَارَى بَدْرٍ لَوْ كَانَ الْمُطْعِمُ بْنُ عَدِيٍّ حَيًّا ثُمَّ كَلَّمَنِي فِي هَؤُلاَءِ النَّتْنَى لَتَرَكْتُهُمْ لَهُ
