[Machine] Abu Zayd reported: I entered, along with Nauf Al-Bakali, to visit Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari when he was ill. Nauf said: "O Allah, grant him well-being and heal him." [Abu Ayyub] said: "Do not say that, but rather say: 'O Allah, if his appointed time is near, then forgive him and have mercy upon him, and if it is delayed, then grant him well-being, heal him, and reward him.'"
"عَنْ أَبِي زَيْدٍ قَالَ: دَخَلْتُ وَنَوْفٌ البَكَالِيُّ (*) عَلَى أبِي أَيُّوبَ الأَنْصَارِيِّ وقَدِ اشْتَكَى، فَقَالَ نَوْفٌ: اللَّهُمَّ عَافِهِ واشْفِهِ، قَالَ: لَا تُقُولوا هَذَا، وَقُولُوا: اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ كَانَ أَجَلُهُ عَاجِلًا فَاغْفِرْ لَهُ وارْحَمْهُ وإِنْ كَانَ آجِلًا فَعَافِهِ واشْفِهِ وأَجُرْهُ".
