السيوطي:٤-١٨٤٣b –

"عَنْ أَبِى عَوفٍ الثَّقَفِىَّ مُحَمدِ بن عُبَيْد الله قَالَ: أَسْلَمَ دَهْقَانٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ عَيْنِ التَّمرِ فَقَالَ لَهُ عَلِىٌّ: أَمَّا أَنْتَ فَلَا جِزْيَةَ عَلَيْكَ، وَأَمَّا أَرْضُكَ فَلَنَا فَإِنْ شِئْتَ فَرضْنَا لَكَ، وَإِنْ شِئْتَ جَعَلْنَا لَهُ قهرِمانًا (*) فَمَا أَخْرَجَ الله (*) ".

[Machine] Ali owns you. As for the compensation for your head, we will waive it. And as for your land, it belongs to the Muslims. If you want, we will make an agreement with you.
