[AI] Abu Rafa'i, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , told me that when Hassan ibn Ali the Elder was born, his mother Fatimah wanted to sacrifice two sheep. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not sacrifice on his behalf, but shave his head and give charity of the weight of his hair in gold to the cause of Allah." After that, Hussein was born and she did the same for him.
[AI] Narrated to me Abu Rafi', the servant of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , that when Hasan ibn Ali was born, his mother Fatimah wanted to offer a sacrifice for him with two sheep. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Do not sacrifice for him, instead shave his head and give its weight in silver in charity for the sake of Allah." Then, after that, Husain was born and she did the same for him.
[AI] It was narrated that a woman came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "I made a vow to sacrifice a great sheep for the sake of Allah, but now I am unable to fulfill it." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not sacrifice anything, but instead, shave the hair of his head and give its weight in silver in charity for the sake of Allah, to be distributed among the poor." Then the woman gave birth to Imam Hussain bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) the following year, and she did as the Prophet ﷺ instructed with him.
[AI] “To redeem yourself from it, sacrifice a great ram, then come to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said, 'Do not redeem yourself from it with anything, but shave his hair, then donate an amount equivalent to its weight in gold in the way of Allah or upon the poor.' Then Lady Fatima gave birth to Al-Hussein ﷺ in the following year and did the same with him.”
[AI] That she (a woman) vows to offer a sacrifice of a great ram, so she came to the Prophet ﷺ and he said to her, "Do not offer any sacrifice, but shave his head and then give charity of its weight in silver for the sake of Allah or give it to a poor person." And she gave birth to Al-Hussein the following year. So Ibn Aqeel did the same thing which no one else did. And if this is authentic, it is as if he wanted to take on the responsibility of the 'Aqeeqah (sacrifice offered upon the birth of a child) for both of them himself, as we narrated it. So he commanded her to do something else, which is to give charity of the weight of their hair in silver, and success is from Allah.
