"عَنْ عمر بن الخطاب: أَنَّهُ كَانَ إِذَا شَرَعَ بِهَذِهِ الآيِةِ: {فَمِنْهُمْ ظَالِمٌ لِنَفْسِهِ وَمِنْهُمْ مُقْتَصِدٌ} قَالَ: أَلَا إِنَّ سَابِقَنَا سَابِقٌ، وَمُقتَصِدَنَا نَاجٍ وَظَالِمَنَا مَغْفُورٌ لَهُ".
We gave the Scripture as a heritage to Our chosen servants: some of them wronged their own souls, some stayed between [right and wrong], and some, by God’s leave, were foremost in good deeds. That is the greatest favour:
ثُمَّ أَوْرَثْنَا ٱلْكِتَٰبَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱصْطَفَيْنَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَاۖ فَمِنْهُمْ ظَالِمࣱ لِّنَفْسِهِۦ وَمِنْهُم مُّقْتَصِدࣱ وَمِنْهُمْ سَابِقُۢ بِٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَضْلُ ٱلْكَبِيرُ
from the Prophet ﷺ, that he said about this Ayah: 'Then We gave the Book the as inheritance to such of Our worshipers whom We chose. Then of them are some who wrong themselves, and of them are some who follow a middle course, and of them are some who are, by Allah's Leave, foremost in good deeds (35:32). He said: "All of these people are of the same rank, and all of them are in Paradise."
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي هَذِهِ الآيَةِ (ثمَّ أَوْرَثْنَا الْكِتَابَ الَّذِينَ اصْطَفَيْنَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَا فَمِنْهُمْ ظَالِمٌ لِنَفْسِهِ وَمِنْهُمْ مُقْتَصِدٌ وَمِنْهُمْ سَابِقٌ بِالْخَيْرَاتِ ) قَالَ هَؤُلاَءِ كُلُّهُمْ بِمَنْزِلَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ وَكُلُّهُمْ فِي الْجَنَّةِ قَالَ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ لاَ نَعْرِفُهُ إِلاَّ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ

"عَنْ أبى عثمان النهدى: سمعت عمر بن الخطاب يقول على المنبر: سَمِعْتُ رَسولَ اللهِ ﷺ يقول: سَابِقُنَا سَابِقٌ، وَمُقْتَصِدُنَا نَاجٍ، وَظَالِمُنَا مَغْفُورٌ لهُ، وَقَرأَ عُمَرُ: {فَمِنْهُمْ ظَالِمٌ لِنَفْسِهِ وَمِنْهُمْ مُقْتَصِدٌ وَمِنْهُمْ سَابِقٌ بِالْخَيْرَاتِ} ".
"عن ميمون بن سياه، عن عمر أنه تلا هذه الآية: {ثُمَّ أَوْرَثْنَا الْكِتَابَ الَّذِينَ اصْطَفَيْنَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَا فَمِنْهُمْ ظَالِمٌ لِنَفْسِهِ وَمِنْهُمْ مُقْتَصِدٌ وَمِنْهُمْ سَابِقٌ بِالْخَيْرَاتِ} فقال رسول اللَّه ﷺ سابقنا سابق، ومقتصدنا ناج، وظالمنا مغفور له".
