"عَنْ عَدِىِّ بْنِ سَهْلٍ قَالَ: كَتَبَ عُمَرُ فِى الأَمْصَارِ: إنِّى لَمْ أَعْزِلْ خَالِدًا عَنْ سَخْطَة وَلَا خِيَانَة، وَلَكِنَّ النَّاسَ فُتِنُوا بِهِ، فَخَشِيتُ أَنْ يُوكلُوا إِلَيْهِ وَيُبْتَلُوا (فَأَحْبَبْتُ) أَنْ يَعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّه هُوَ الصَّانِعُ وَأَنْ لَا يَكُونُوا بِعَرْضِ فِتْنَةٍ".
