"عَنْ ثَابِتِ بْنِ الْحَجَّاجِ قَالَ: بَلَغَنِى أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الخَطَّابِ قَالَ: لَوْ أَدْرَكْتُ أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ بْنَ الجَرَّاحِ لَاسْتَخْلَفْتُهُ وَمَا شَاوَرْتُ، فَإِنْ سُئِلْتُ عَنْهُ قُلْتُ: اسْتَخْلَفْتُ أَمِينَ الله وَأَمِينَ رَسُولِهِ".
