That two men referred a dispute to the Prophet [SAW] concerning an animal, and neither of them had any evidence, so he ruled that it be shared equally between them.

أَنَّ رَجُلَيْنِ اخْتَصَمَا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي دَابَّةٍ لَيْسَ لِوَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا بَيِّنَةٌ فَقَضَى بِهَا بَيْنَهُمَا نِصْفَيْنِ

«أَنَّ رَجُلَيْنِ ادَّعَيَا بَعِيرًا أَوْ دَابَّةً إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَلَيْسَ لِوَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا بَيِّنَةٌ فَجَعَلَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بَيْنَهُمَا»

[AI] I witnessed a dispute between Abu Darda and a group of people over a horse. Each of them presented evidence that it belonged to him. Then, he (Abu Darda) decided between them.

شَهِدْتُ أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ وَاخْتَصَمَ إِلَيْهِ قَوْمٌ فِي فَرَسٍ وَأَقَامَ كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا بَيِّنَةً أَنَّهَا دَابَّتُهُ أَنْتَجَهُ قَالَ فَقَضَى بَيْنَهُمَا

"إنَّ رَجُلَين اخْتَصَمَا إِلى النَّبِى ﷺ في دَابَةٍ لَيْسَ لِوَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا بيَنةٌ فَقَضَى بِهَا بَيْنَهُما نِصْفَيْنِ".
